Looks amazing! "To that end, we're exploring how we can make Genie 3 available to additional testers in the future." Soon 👀

Great now I have to spend the rest of my day wondering if my own life is just a character in a simulation. Thanks for that.

Breakdown of the paper behind it: Title: Scaling Instructable Agents Across Many Simulated Worlds Imagine you want to teach a robot to play a video game, but you don't want to teach it for just one game. You want it to be smart enough to play many different games, even games it has never seen before, just by you telling it what to do in simple words. This is a very hard problem for computers. Right now, computers are good at writing stories or playing board games like chess, but they are not very good at seeing the world and moving around in it like humans do. This study is trying to make computers better at seeing, moving, and understanding what people say in many different pretend worlds, like video games. … The team collected a lot of information from people playing video games. This information included what the people saw on the screen, what they said, and what buttons they pressed on the keyboard and mouse. They used this information to teach the computer agent. The agent learns by watching what humans do and trying to do the same thing. They used many different pretend worlds, including special ones made for research and popular video games like "Goat Simulator 3" and "No Man's Sky. ……

Ever since I started developing Latens back in 2023, I knew this was the path to follow. Congrats to the Genie team on all these amazing achievements 👏

This is actually massive, you can > type a sentence and it builds that world instantly > play through a universe you just described > explore different places and time periods > even revisit ancient history (hi Roman Empire) > experience real physics in odd environments > build magical worlds (a giant origami lizard island) > change the world mid-scene (let's get a dragon) > train NPCs and agents in this new world Google cooked

The future of AI was never chat. It is a bad medium for generative thought. We read and write for substance and critical thought. However, we enjoy visuals for exploring and seeing what we cannot. Videos like this wow us because we can only dream of it.
