introducing greptile v5, a ground-up rewrite of the greptile coding agent. it catches more bugs, with higher precision, and 2x faster (~2 minutes per review)

three things are better: first, it catches more bugs: we track positive replies like “great catch” and “just fixed” per MR as a proxy for this. v4: 0.266/PR v5: 0.342/PR ∆: 28.6% higher second, it is higher precision. we track what %age of greptile’s comments are addressed exactly as greptile recommended. this is a very strict way to measure address rate. v4: 52% v5: 66% ∆: 14pp higher third, it is faster! v4: 5:04 minutes v5: 2:25 minutes ∆: -53%

You guys have a dillema here. In your greptile codebase if prs have no bugs then greptile isn't useful but if they do and your greptile catches them then it's not perfect right.

Using positive replies as the bug catch proxy is the smartest part of this. Recall is easy to inflate, and a review agent that comments on everything gets muted by the third PR. Precision is what decides whether the team keeps reading it at all.

Two-minute reviews matter only if higher precision survives real repository complexity.
