I believe that StoryDiffusion has the potential to be Animatediff's complex motion sister-model! While AD is amazing for granular control, micro-motion and all kinds of abstract motion, it fails at complex realistic motion - walking, human movements, cars, etc. StoryDiffusion seems very promising for this + also has characteristics that will likely make the community very receptive to it and likely to extend its capabilities: 2) Appealing base-model results - likely to get the community excited - feels like significantly better realistic motion than AD 2) Modular - their approach is built with a number of components that can be combined and taken apart - it works by generating consistent images, then animating them together - each of these stages can likely be upgraded, used and influenced in different ways. 3) Flexible - they demonstrate a bunch of different conditioning options 4) Likely easy on RAM - it's based on SD 1.5 + authors mention precautions to reduce RAM consumption 5) Built to plug into the existing ecosystem - e.g. the fact that it works with the SD1.5 ecosystem will give it a huge advantage! While it's very early to say - e.g. the video model hasn't even been released yet! - it does seem very promising. With 9 months of SD1.5/Animatediff-esque progress improving every element of it, I can see an an extremely extended version of this beating Sora + running for a fraction of the compute resources on a consumer GPU. Together with Animatediff to drive the micro-motions and abstract stuff, it could produce be extraordinary/otherworldly/insane/beautiful stuff. This is the first open video model I've been excited about since Animatediff - though cautiously optimistic! Link here:

🇨🇳 Another great Chinese Model, OmniHuman-1.5 from ByteDance Turns 1 image plus a voice track into expressive avatar video by pairing a System 1 and System 2 inspired planner with a Diffusion Transformer, Produces coherent motion for over 1 minute with moving camera and multi character scenes. Most avatar models move to the beat of the audio but miss meaning, so gestures feel generic and emotions feel shallow. The fix here is a Multimodal LLM planner that listens to the speech and drafts a structured plan describing intent, emotions, beats, and high level actions, which gives the motion engine clear semantic targets instead of only rhythm. The motion engine is a Multimodal Diffusion Transformer that fuses the plan with audio, the single reference image, and optional text prompts, then synthesizes continuous body, face, and head motion that matches both words and tone. A key trick is a Pseudo Last Frame, a synthetic target that summarizes the next expected state, which stabilizes fusion across modalities and keeps motion consistent over long spans. From just 1 image and speech, the system outputs speaking avatars with synchronized lips, context aware gestures, and continuous camera movement, and it also supports multi character interactions without manual choreography. Reported results show strong lip sync accuracy, high video quality, natural motion, and close match to text prompts, and the same setup works on nonhuman characters too.

April 30 • 12:00pm ET Art Blocks + OpenSea “Gift of time” began during my residency in Marfa, Texas, as part of the Art Blocks and OpenSea artist residency program, where a distinct shift in the experience of time became central to the work. In the desert, I felt time move differently. It stretched, slowed, and became something I noticed. After a few days, the rhythm changed. Moments felt longer, attention sharpened, and I became increasingly aware of each moment as it passed. This work comes from that condition. Time is not treated only as a theme, but as a system embedded in the structure of the piece. Different ways of measuring time, such as mechanical cycles, calendars, and lunar phases, are translated into rules that continuously transform the work. The piece does not represent time. It runs on it. Its movement is tied to blockchain time. Even when unseen, it continues to rotate and evolve. When loaded, it synchronizes with the present moment, but it does not begin when it is viewed, and it does not stop when it disappears from the screen. During the residency, I spent hours thinking, sketching, and making connections. Those connections are also visible. Elastic lines, like rubber bands, link elements across the piece, representing how memories connect, how one thought leads to another, and how everything builds over time. These same connections introduce moments where the system attempts to pull itself back, as if trying to regain control. But it never fully resets. It is not a loop. The movement continues, drifting forward, never returning to a fixed state. Visually, the work reveals its own construction. Lines, paths, and rotations expose an internal logic, like looking inside a mechanism. The drawing language recalls diagrams, technical sketches, or the interior of a mechanical watch. It is a system in motion, always active. “Gift of Time” exists because I was given time by Art Blocks, OpenSea, and above all my family. It is my way of saying thank you. We all remember. We all remember when blockchain was pitched as the next big thing. And today, we feel like we’ve been waiting and waiting. The three-body problem is a classic and notoriously difficult question in physics and mathematics. It asks: How do three objects, such as stars, planets, or moons, move under the influence of each other’s gravity? Unlike the simpler two-body problem, which has precise and predictable analytical solutions (like the Earth orbiting the Sun in an ellipse), the three-body problem quickly becomes chaotic and unpredictable. This complexity arises because each object's motion constantly affects, and is affected by, the other two. These gravitational interactions form a tangled and unstable system. In fact, there's no general formula that can solve all three-body scenarios exactly. This was first demonstrated in the 19th century by Henri Poincaré, whose work laid the foundations for chaos theory. While exact solutions remain elusive, scientists have discovered certain special cases where the motion is stable or periodic. One well-known example is the Lagrange points, where three bodies can maintain a stable triangular configuration. However, such neat solutions are rare. Today, thanks to powerful computers, researchers can simulate three-body systems with remarkable accuracy, helping us study triple-star systems, exoplanets, and asteroid dynamics.
