Introducing OpenRouter for tools ⚒️ Old world: SaaS bundles priced for humans. $139/mo, and you don't even know what's in the box. New world: agents don't care about vendors. They want the best API for the task - and to pay for the result. - 2,600 agent-friendly tools: seo/geo,...

Very interesting, just spent a few mins to setup and try, spent less than $1 and got some really useful analytics for tiktok, ig, plus a solid best practices breakdown

Pay per call makes the economics clear for agents. I’ve hit flaky endpoints often, a validation wrapper saves time. Lean ecosystem wins

This hopefully help people avoid flaky endpoints

the hard part isn't finding those 2600 tools, it's knowing which one will actually get you the desired outcome in production

We built a large catalog of vendor/endpoint, each including price/request/response, so agent have rich info to decide

Don't do this. The agents are smarter already and no, I will not like your repo (precisely because of it).

How is it different from Monid AI?

Love this framing — "agent asks for the task, not the tool." One category that's conspicuously missing from most of these aggregators: on-chain risk/safety checks. Before an agent swaps or pays, it needs a safety signal on the counterparty just as much as it needs an SEO tool. Curious if treg has room for that category, or if crypto-safety is a different lane entirely.

I want. Signed up for similar service but too limited. Do you just ignore all the ToS restrictions?

Profilbild von Daniel Jeffries
Daniel Jeffriesvor 2 Monaten

If this works it is pretty damn cool. I have no idea but I love the idea. There are just so many services that are an absurd level of hoops to jump through. Call these guys. Open a ticket. Upload thirty pieces of paperwork. Wait. Wait some more. But... 1) If you are carrying all the subs I assume a pool will run into rate limits or scaling issues or exhaustion? 2) I would also assume that a few bad users could poison the well if abused for the whole pool? AdWords is a huge pain, as an example and I've dreamed of just oAuth to it.

Profilbild von Jason Zhou
Jason Zhouvor 2 Monaten

Good points Daniel! Behind the scenes we rotate keys to handle limits just like how AI gateways handle it; And yes OAuth apps are big pain, we actually started building this as internal tool so it covers; 1. Premium data providers that typically behind annoying paywall 2. System normally requires annoying oauth setup (e.g. Google/meta ads, social posting, Google business profile, etc) - that part is already on!

Rich data on price/response per endpoint is the part that actually matters, without that agents just pick the first result like humans do

Profilbild von Jason Zhou

Exactly right

Profilbild von The Right Handed Neutrino
The Right Handed Neutrinovor 2 Monaten

@thedanifrim Nice 👍 so let’s say a subscription costs 100/mo but with that you’re really getting maybe something like a per token of like $.04 so we get the per token cost without the subscription basically?

Profilbild von Jason Zhou

@thedanifrim Yep! Trying to play with math make sure we don’t lose money too hard at the moment tbh lol

2,600 tools is impressive and slightly terrifying. How are you handling APIs that return 200 OK and complete nonsense?

Profilbild von Garrett
Garrettvor 2 Monaten

Same thing as composio isn’t it?

Profilbild von Jason Zhou
Jason Zhouvor 2 Monaten

quite different actually: - Composio is only for oauth actions + you only use tools they provided - Treg is a proxy service, meaning you are not limited by tools we define/provide - + a huge tool catalog of data providers, each endpoint with price/request/response, so your agent can decide which one to call, and we provide keys for those directly so you don't need to buy subscriptions

Okay the sheer scale of things here is huge. Hope I find something I need here.

I’ve been watching x402 since Coinbase 🛡️ launched it in May 2025. I did a quick research pass. Here’s the snapshot ↓ Early integrations: • CoinGecko: x402 pay-per-use access for agents (shared by Coinbase Developer Platform🛡️). • Vercel: x402 AI starter template (x402 + modern AI stack demo). • Firecrawl: x402-powered search endpoint (pay per request). • Concordium: x402 + native age verification for agent payments. • Multiversᕽ: “agentic payments” built around x402 support. • AltLayer: building an “x402 Suite” for value exchange between agents. • Solana claims x402 has processed 35M+ transactions and $10M+ volume since launch. TL;DR x402 turns HTTP 402 “Payment Required” into a payment flow. A server returns a price for a request. The client pays in stables like USDC. Then the server returns the result. → Coinbase launched x402 via Coinbase Developer Platform (May 6, 2025). → Coinbase + Cloudflare announced the x402 Foundation (Sep 23, 2025). → Cloudflare added x402 support into its Agents SDK + MCP servers. Why? - AI agents need a clean way to pay for tools. - Data, compute, APIs, services. - No accounts, cards, or subscription screens. x402 is trying to make pay-per-request feel normal. Use cases that already make sense → Paid APIs Pay per call instead of subscriptions. → AI tool calls Pay per query, per inference, per task. → Agent-to-agent payments Software paying software automatically. → Micropaywalls Pay for one endpoint, one action, one piece of content. If this takes off, stablecoins stop being a story. They become how apps and AI agents pay for things online.
