In 2025, the Western States 100 is going to be a track meet. I think that in 5-10 years, almost every major ultra is going to be a track meet. Our big theory is that as ultrarunners probe the limits of human physiology, athletes will be leaving time on the table if they aren’t developing their true speed. And most athletes can’t leave time on the table as the margins get more and more narrow. That theory doesn’t mean you need to be ready for a track race—I would get my doors blown off at the Olympic Trials. It just means that every aspect of running economy has a relation to top speed. Mile speed is connected to 5k speed is connected to 100-mile speed is connected to multi-day speed. We all have our limiters, and pushing back the speed limit via strides and workouts causes immediate and sustained improvement even at very low effort levels. The same principles apply to athletes doing their first ultra or dreaming of staying ahead of cutoffs (it might even apply more). Plus, it’s fun. The amazing Cody Bare filmed my workout yesterday for The Feed (for an upcoming video series), and this is the finish of the final 3 minute interval. The session: 4 miles Z2 warm-up 6 x (3 min on/1 min easy/1 min on/1 min easy) GI training consisting of 32 oz fluid at once 2.5 miles Z2/Z3 steady running after workout At the end of the video, I go to my arms, inspired by track/trail runners like Allie Ostrander and Anna Gibson and Grayson Murphy (hitting 3:50 min/mile pace). As I said at the end with my hands on my knees: “fun.” It’s so exciting to see how our understanding of human limits is changing with big fueling, an emphasis on long-term health, and fun training. I am so inspired by everyone out there pushing their own limits, wherever those limits happen to be. I can’t wait to see where all of you go in 2025. Let’s have some fun 🧡 WE LOVE YOU ALL (even more than we love strides)

Anthropic's CEO: "coding is going away first. then all of software engineering." here's the part nobody's ready for: AI isn't killing designers. it's about to make them the most valuable people in tech. when anyone can ship an app in 24 hours, code stops being the moat. [Greg Isenberg broke this down the entire playbook:] there are solo devs pulling $10k–100k/mo right now. the apps all have one thing in common : they stand out. 1/ animations & interactions : same calorie app, two tweets a day apart. one with page-bounces, haptics, a "searching" gradient → went viral. the static one → 7 likes. the polish was the difference. 2/ illustrations & mascots : commission an artist for v1 ($200–300), then riff infinite variations in GPT-5. pro move: MidJourney can animate a static mascot for your splash screen. 3/ iconography : pick one set (Hero Icons, Font Awesome, Nucleo). lined OR filled, never mixed. instant "this isn't vibe-coded" signal. 4/ typography : weights, sizing, legibility. 5 min of learning, outsized payoff. 5/ widgets : the retention cheat code. only 4 lock-screen slots exist. own one and users see your app 150x/day. doubled retention on every app he added it to. 6/ train your eye daily : Mobbin, 60fps, Spotted in Prod. you can't ship taste you've never seen. 7/ app store screenshots : your title-thumbnail. no first impression = no download = retention doesn't matter. AI didn't replace the designer. it deleted everyone who skipped this. → save this before everyone copies it

Selling into strength is another topic we've gotten tons of questions around. Hopefully this 10 minute video answers them for you: — Main takeaways: 1) Stage 1 & 2 traders should have hard rules about when to sell stocks at different % gain levels. For example, you should be selling 1/3 at your average gain, another 1/3 at x multiple of your risk, and the final on a break below the 21-sma (2 closes below). 2) You always need to be on the lookout for extensions from key moving averages Oliver Kell has done a lot of work on daily & weekly extension counts, and using this to guide when he sells into strength. Some other guidelines to think about: → 10% from 10-day → 20% from 21-day → 50% from 50-day → 100% from 200-day Of course, these levels are highly dependent on the stock's character. If it's normal for the stock to extend 20% of the 21-day, there's no need to sell. But if it's 50% above, and it hasn't done this in 10 years, then it's probably smart to lock some in and take advantage of the strength. 3) When it feels "too easy". This is not a tangible sell rule, but is one you can follow when you're up a ridiculous amount in a short period of time — ultimately when you're making so much money that it doesn't feel sustainable. These types of runs happen from time to time, and locking in gains when this is the case will only help your equity curve. 4) % Up In a single session rules or other technical patterns. Many traders like Leif Soreide take advantage of massive upside bars to lock in partial gains. Look for: → 10% up in a single session → Major earnings reaction bars → Upside exhaustion moves (up 12/15 days in a row) → Breach of upper channel/trendline — At the end of the day, selling is an art that you'll continue to perfect as time goes on. It'll never be 100% accurate, but implementing some of the rules above, you're better prepared to capture the strength the market is gifting you. As they say, you either sell into strength or you sell into weakness.

Convention wisdom is that bioweapons are humanity's greatest weakness – 100x cheaper to make than to defend against. Andrew Snyder-Beattie thinks conventional wisdom is likely wrong. He has a plan cheap enough to do without government. Useful even in worst case scenarios like mirror bacteria. Effective enough to save most people. In one of my all-time fav interviews he lays out a low-tech 4-step approach developed by his research team at Open Philanthropy, to fix a problem most have thought unsolvable. ASB is hiring for many roles in this project from logistics to biotech to manufacturing, and has $100s millions to deploy.
