Introducing SKY-001, the first Engineering World Model. On CAD and BIM tasks, it beats GPT-6 Astra and every frontier model we tested: -> 51-125x faster - > 150-210x cheaper -> Higher IOU than all frontier models SKY-001 lets you dream a physical object before you build it. 18 months...

1/n The benchmark results back up what we have argued from day one: LLMs are autoregressive by nature, which means they predict one token at a time, but they were never built for visual reasoning and long-horizon tasks. We tested SKY-001 against the frontier models, GPT-6 Astra, Claude Opus 5.5, etc, in both CAD and BIM. In both cases, our model outperformed the LLMs, setting a new standard for AI efficiency.

SKY-001 is way cheaper than any frontier models by a huge margin as well. Here is the cost for CAD:

3/n While SKY-001 models are faster and cheaper than frontier models, they are much more accurate than them as well. Here is the IOU for CAD:

5/n How did we achieve this? One-shot generation from frontier models looks impressive at first. These models know what goes into a sports car for instance, and they can write CAD code that produces striking results. When you zoom in, however, the internal assemblies are often simplified, missing, or replaced with basic primitives. SKY-001 shows a different approach by planning each part before it is built. It has the ability to break down a complex physical object into smaller components through its 3D hierarchical part generation module. Additionally, its hierarchical sketch world model explains how each part is assembled by progressing through 3D intermediate states, 2D sketches, and CAD steps.

6/n What's next for SKY-001? SKY-001 is currently a Compositional Visual World Model, aka designed to provide a visual plan of an engineered object. However, the next step is to pair it with a VLA. The agent gets one component at a time plus a visual sequence to follow, enabling it to execute each step, inspect the result, and revise what fails as required. Since SKY-001 does the planning, even smaller open-source models could build complex CAD, potentially at far lower cost. But, our vision is to use SKY-001 to reinvent the physical economy beyond just CAD and BIM. The next domains could be PCB Design, Aerospace Engineering, Molecule Design, Energy and Power Grids and many more.

I like that this specialized world model focuses on engineering and is highly efficient. I could see this having applications in so many industries. It's fun using an LLM to build models, but I think we really need these specialized world models for this. Excited for this.

AI solving real engineering problems, not just generating answers. That’s where things get interesting.

Benzer Videolar

China just released an open source AI model that matches the best closed models from OpenAI and Anthropic. Gavin Baker explained exactly how they did it and the answer should concern every American AI lab. The model is called GLM 5.2. It was built by Z. AI. You get 744 billion parameters, 1 million token context window and its MIT license, meaning anyone can download it, fork it, build a company on it, with no restrictions and no Dario. It scored 51 points on the artificial analysis intelligence index. The highest score any open weight model has ever achieved. It beat GPT 5.5 on the frontier software engineering benchmark. It trails Claude Opus 4.8 by less than one percentage point. And it costs 85% less to run than GPT 5.5 for comparable performance. Gavin Baker said on the All-In podcast that this model has challenged some of his beliefs. Then he explained how China built it. The method is called distillation. Just think of tens of thousands of phones and computers running simultaneously, all hitting the frontier model APIs through masked accounts, asking specific questions, and harvesting what happens inside the model when it answers. Every reasoning step, every token. The entire thinking process gets recorded and fed back into the Chinese model during training. It is a cheat sheet. It is the answer key to the exam. And here is the part that should worry everyone. Sacks said it plainly. China was already nine months behind American models. But now that GLM 5.2 is good enough to run its own reinforcement learning, it can improve itself without needing to distill from American models anymore. The cheat sheet let them get close enough to start writing their own answers. Sacks said we are six months behind on the model and 24 months behind on silicon and they are only a few months behind in total. The Z. AI founder told Elon Musk directly that open weight fable-level capability will be here before Q1 2027. Every restriction Anthropic lobbied for, every self-imposed safety guardrail, every month of delay in releasing American frontier models accelerated this. The Chinese labs were not under those restrictions. They were not going to wait. The composable model future Gavin described, where every enterprise runs a frontier model alongside their own fine-tuned open weight model, is coming regardless of what American labs do next. The question is just whether the open weight half of that stack is American or Chinese. Right now it is Chinese. WATCH THE FULL PODCAST ON The All-In Podcast
