It's all connected in a single place. All systems (frames, layouts, booleans, vectors, effects, etc.) work in sync across 2D and 3D, non-destructively. This is the starting point of a fully multi-dimensional design process. At some point in the near future, people won't need to refer to '3d design' as a separate part of the process, because it will be all part of the same system.
