HashiCorp co-founder Mitchell Hashimoto started Superlogical. First product: a terminal multiplexer. He already built Ghostty (the terminal emulator). Now he's building the multiplexer layer that runs inside it. Two pieces of the same vision.

Would be nicer if terminal mode worked correctly on a terminal.

Holy shit...Claude Code just killed one of the most annoying terminal problems — flickering. 🤯 Anthropic quietly shipped NO_FLICKER mode and it changes how AI feels inside the terminal: • No more screen flashing • Smooth scrolling + stable viewport • Mouse support (yes… in terminal) • Constant memory/CPU as chats grow • Cleaner selections (no UI junk copied) This isn’t just a UI tweak. They basically virtualized the entire terminal viewport to control rendering themselves. Result? Terminal AI finally feels like a real app — fast, smooth, usable. ⚡ Turn it on: CLAUDE_CODE_NO_FLICKER=1 claude Small launch. Huge UX upgrade. Terminal-native AI is getting scary good.

Ghostty Devlog 006, speed edition 🚀. An intro to SIMD, clever unicode lookup algorithms, and CSI parsing fast-paths all in order to make Ghostty wicked fast. The video below compares the plain-text throughput of Ghostty to another popular macOS terminal. Note that this video only showcases one particular type of speed. There are many other ways to measure the speed of a terminal and I note that in the devlog. The video is a very real world scenario though (i.e. tailing loud log output). 👻

Even with close confirmation I sometimes close my terminal and think "OH FUCK NO." Coming soon to Ghostty, you can undo that. 🥰 (Technical details: we keep the terminal running for a configurable time in the background before terminating for real, similar to email undo send). (macOS only for now, AppKit APIs provide a nice undo manager implementation that eases this quite a bit. I still have to do research on GTK for Linux.)
