is this essentially replacing what you'd get from something like a playwright MCP server?

It does a better job than Playwright MCP because Tidewave uses the same browser as you. For example, imagine you are building a project management software and you are working on a feature for transferring tasks between projects. Testing this feature requires at least a user who is admin in at least two projects. When it is time for Playwright to test this feature, you need to automate the account creation, then it has to set up two projects, add the task, etc, and it often gets stuck. When you are using Tidewave, you naturally do this setup as part of your development, which Tidewave has direct access to during tests. So it just interacts with the same page. Furthermore, if you see any bugs or places you could improve, you can't really tell Playwright or regular coding agent to fix them, you have to translate what you want. With Tidewave you just point and click. 📷 So yeah, it does a much better job than Playwright MCP and it comes with other features too. :)

Sounds awesome. Looking forward to trying it out!

Super cool! Is this front end focused? Or can it handle backend changes as well

Yes! It is full stack, like Rails and Phoenix! :D

@richkuo7 does it work with inertia rails too?

@richkuo7 Give it a try, but note that we don’t support react yet. That’s the next major milestone!

That’s pretty slick

This really looks cool. I get similar vibes to @Vaadin Copilot:

Awesome work folks! I was using the mcp in my little phoenix project and it was a huge help already. Just tested the browser eval, :chef-kiss:!

Just tested it, it is amazing. Thanks for pushing Elixir towards the future of AI

First congratulations, excellent agent. Now I got a question: Why do I have to have an OpenAi paid key and a Github Copilot connector and are being deducted from my Copilot account? What is the best way to use this library? Again congratulations on the excellent tool! 👏👏

You need either an Anthropic key or a GitHub Copilot subscription to power Tidewave's agent (using your credentials).

@RCOproc Anything on the roadmap for openrouter or bedrock as options?

@RCOproc OpenRouter has been mentioned before and is in our roadmap. I am assuming adding Bedrock support is straight-forward though if you can provide Bedrock API keys (Option D here: Ping us on Discord if you want to help us iron this out!

is it possible to use your Claude Max plan with Tidewave web?

My understanding is that this would be against your Claude Max subscription terms of service. If you are a paying customer, reach out to them and let them know you would like to use your Claude Max with 3rd party products!

I've seen other services use claude code's cli to run the llm calls through claude code to use the max plan

@josevalim yeah thats def possible and some folks do it but it is indeed against TOS so they risk getting banned if used for commercial purposes

@josevalim ahh i understand. thanks

I wanted to share this with you...

Definitely going to give it a try with Rails! looks really cool

Congrats, and great work! It was nice meeting you and dining with you at the same table with Matz and Dave Thomas. I was inspired by your story to jump onto the creators/builders side.

Thanks @josevalim. Working nice. If such tools are part of the foundational flow - they will be more useful. I mean, claude cli or github copilot already offer one dev flow. Now, this agent offering another dev flow instead of integrating into existing flows will make it shallow.

The issue is that a coding agent in the editor is fundamentally limited compared to one in the browser when it comes to web application. You need to have the agent running alongside what you actually build. We explore this a bit more in detail in the post: Although I truly hope that we will see better standards come up when it comes to MCP configuration, rules, etc, so we can all interoperate better.

this changes the game for full-stack development, no need to switch tabs or apps, everything in one place

Will the MCP stay open source?

Yessssssss

That looks powerful — having Tidewave run right inside the browser with full-stack context could really change how developers work with Rails and Phoenix apps.

This looks awesome! 👏 Can’t wait to start using this!

Looks amazing! How is it doing the charts in this example?!

Tidewave knows the exact page you are on and it uses its coding agent to change the template and implement the charts directly in your app

Sorry my question was a bit more nuanced. I just wondered if there is a default charting lib recommended - but I guess you’re saying it just writes some functions to output Svg. I wonder if libraries are dying?

In this case it used canvas, no libs indeed.

rails needed some love

Just playing with this. It's very cool 👏. Great work!

Tidewave is amazing. Which app did you use to make this video? :)

We hired a professional to do it and I don't remember the tool anymore! But ping me if you want recommendations, glad to forward his contact!

Congrats 🎊 I’ll try it soon. From my experience now AI is capable of only simple fixes like fixing tailwind classes.

I am going to try now
