Traces is a CLI app that can be downloaded from Homebrew, npm or curl. When you run `traces`, you will see a list of your coding agent sessions. We support Cursor, OpenCode, Claude, Codex, Gemini CLI, Pi, with more adapters coming soon. Get started at

Traces is also a network. You can share privately, publicly, or via direct-link. All your public traces are available on your profile. People are sharing all kinds of traces. Here's one of mine:

Why would I share a Trace? We built Traces to share and learn how we're solving problems with agents. Our team now adds links to every PR. This new context shows us how problems were approached. It's a nice add-on to our workflow without disrupting it.

On Privacy You can share Traces publicly, privately, or via direct link. Secrets from agent conversations are stripped at source. Coming soon are robust privacy + org models, an open source CLI, self hosting & more. Trust is a long running conversation we are just starting.

Your feedback is super important as we're building out the Traces community. You can follow @tracesdotcom for updates, join our Discord: or DM me personally. I can't wait to hear from you and see what you share.

Looks very polished. Congrats on the launch! I built almost the same thing but open-source and self-hostable. It's available here if someone is curious:

This is delightful! I just installed it to play around with it, and my first trace is related to my blog post about how I progressed from manual ffmpeg, to get claude code just do it (this trace) and then eventually to making a utility MacApp to do it faster without burning tokens. Reading this trace brought a smile to my face! Well done.

You’ll like this too I think (the post covering how I went from FFMPEG tricks saved in my email, to ChatGPT making FFMPEG for me to CC and then finally getting CC to write me a Mac app for it!!):

Love this, i built something similar during a single day hackathon but also included imsg etc. Was focused around skill extraction and training loops. I do love the UX on yours and clean TUI feel, will check it out for sure! Assuming your product is closed scource?

yep parts will remain closed some may open time will tell

Traces linking should be cool, agent-to-agent traces sharing, so each agent knows what the other is working on.

Very very soon

Would be great if you offer a self-hostable version of that. Nice work overall!

Tarun Sachdeva's profile picture
Tarun Sachdeva7 months ago

thank you, and coming soon. how would you imagine it being used?

shekohex's profile picture
shekohex7 months ago

Local AI inference and say wanted to share a conversation with someone privately and still own the infrastructure that hosts the shared session. So no code is leaked nor chat history itself. It would be good if you have added a proven e2ee to it, so everything is encrypted.

If e2ee is there, then you can also market it to other enterprises.

love the web UI! i just shared my first trace i am noticing that the CLI doesn't seem to be picking up my latest Codex sessions, could there be a bug there?

Tarun Sachdeva's profile picture

will do

Josh Valdez's profile picture

ah, i realized the gap, i was expecting Codex Desktop sessions to show up and those are not showing up. the traces are recorded for them in .codex so they are fetchable but maybe Traces doesn't load them?

Tarun Sachdeva's profile picture
Tarun Sachdeva7 months ago

def a bug. We’ll fix the adapter. Mind sending the session via dm or email tarun at traces dot com

@internetvin feels like another layer, but does it actually change how agents work or just stack more complexity?

Looks very interesting to try. I had an idea and tried to make for myself: It would be cool to have a "representative" trace map for a trace. Prompt to the agent to make a map of the session where checkpoints can be linked to actual turns. It can help to read traces easily.
