Before anyone tags @FarzaTV, I will say it first 😅 yes, it’s inspired (a clone) by freewrite.i0, which is only for macOS, but I made it for Linux (and Windows/macOS) with some extra features. First time doing video editing, so don’t roast me too hard 😅 Download here:

add some ai slop

@Friction470 noted!

I tried something similar like this in the past btw Anyways, well done

thanku!

as promised, open source here:

Obsidian is my notebook/db. But write simply is my blank brain trying to write at the end of the day. no words so good. Btw which language did you code it? I have my trading terminal and I want to build it for mac, pure python/Pyside6 for gui.

Thanks bro 😄 made it with Tauri + React

@tikamalma Doesn't using React kind of defeat the purpose of a native UI? I'd guess that it's better with Tauri than with Electron, but how close does it get to something like a Qt app? Not throwing hate, geniunely curious. And kinda unimportant considering it's a small app

Qt are more powerful in both C++ and python lots of features and optimization. But I feel electron is old and a bit heavy, what tauri is doing great. Electron bundles full chromium and node runtime, big binary size, more memory is required. While tauri uses native Webview2, less binary size, backed by rust so it's fast and light. Use electron for same app and tuari you'll know it.

@0xrinx Yeah no doubt Tauri's faster by not embedding full chromium, though my question was about the performance difference between react+tauri and a "true native" app (C++ qt)

@0xrinx Obviously true native apps are faster and more efficient, but because tauri backend is in rust so it is trying to reach that level. Right now I'm using Pyside6 QT of python it's fast.

When you add more text its stuck on the top, System: Pop OS Desktop: Cosmic

@takucoder Thanks! I will fix it soon

Cool, otherwise its a nice app

Damnnn, will look into this!

Thanks! Hope you enjoy it 😄 I will open source it soon so others can contribute too!

cool

I used it for a while. It's nice overall as I'm a type of guy who likes minimalistic notepads, overall I use my apple notes. But this one is great too.

BASED finally someone who uses peak OS instead of normie OS

I love how minimal this looks

Thanks! 😊

how did u manage to ship it to linux, mac and windows

@TauriApps made it possible to ship it on all three platforms easily 😎

@TauriApps ill check it out

why would i want to use this over neovim? any benefits? looks cool tho.

So it’s a notepad app?

Great app! Maybe I'm dumb but where are sabes files stored?

Thanks! On Linux, files are saved in ~/.local/share/writeSimply/ right now, they are stored as JSON files (so not very useful to open directly), but I will add an export option soon!

for all ther mac users here. you can try

cool shit

Thanks!

Adjustable font size and face is not simply. It's more unwieldy than markdown.

This needs to be included in Omarchy @dhh

@dhh Haha, that would be awesome!

@dhh I'll give them a pr, if u have it as AUR package it would be convenient.

Dude, no AppImage?

wait, I am adding

hey, tag me when it's out pls.

thanks, would use it and give feedbacks soon.

@0xrinx We've already had this on Linux, Windows, and Mac for 17 years. It's called FocusWriter.

never thought id be so excited for minimalism

Love it!

Wow, this looks amazing

Can we also add the music?

yeah,😄 you just select the folder where your local music is stored, and it works!

lets go

not gonna lie, looks like typora. but if its open source its huge

Great 👍

my timeline is healing

now this but an LLM does all the writing. thoughts?

how are you gonna profit from this? add some ads

dope!! very clean, big fan of the cursor/icons

thanku

and which language do you use?

Tauri framework

This is really neat. i’ll try it out.

Thanks, Enjoy!

Don't need it, but looks cool 👌🏼
