A smaller aperture allows for better photos during bright light while a bigger aperture allows for better pictures in low-light. For some odd reason, Samsung decided to skip on this feature entirely after the launch of galaxy S10 and every Galaxy smartphone released after it had a fixed aperture. Chances are that Samsung will follow Apple again and re-introduce this feature with their next Galaxy smartphones but I always found it quite odd that they got rid of it on the first place.
