Iran takes control of seized smuggled fuel tanker worth over $5 million —— Iranian authorities have ordered the transfer of a recently seized oil tanker and its fuel cargo, valued at more than $5 million, into state ownership, according to the chief justice of Hormozgan Province. Mojtaba Ghahremani announced the decision on Friday, two days after the Islamic Revolution Guard Corps (IRGC) intercepted the foreign vessel near Qeshm Island in the Persian Gulf. The tanker was carrying around 4 million liters of smuggled fuel, he said, noting that the move follows direct instructions from Judiciary Chief Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei to intensify efforts against fuel smuggling. The ship and its cargo, worth more than $5.2 million, will be taken over by the state. IRGC forces also detained 16 crew members aboard the vessel and handed them to judicial authorities. Ghahremani said a legal case has been opened with the Public and Revolutionary Prosecutor’s Office in Qeshm to address the violations linked to the tanker.

Excerpts from CJ Malaba's biography as read by Deputy Chief Justice, Honourable Elizabeth Gwaunza: -During the time that he was Judge of Appeal and a Deputy Chief Justice, he was also a Judge of the COMESA Court of Justice for more than a decade (2005-2016). -Mr Justice Malaba is an accomplished human rights defender who has taken advantage of his judicial posting by delivering judgments that protect the fundamental human rights of the vulnerable including women, children and persons with disabilities amongst others. -Since his appointment as the Chief Justice, he has led the judiciary and the Judicial Service Commission in taking deliberate steps meant to enhance access to justice for the people of Zimbabwe through the construction of courthouses in various parts of the country, simplifying court rules so that they are easily understood by ordinary persons and increasing the number of judicial officers both in the magistracy and superior courts. -Under his stewardship, the courts in Zimbabwe are moving towards digitisation through the Integrated Electronic Case Management System (I.E.C.M.S). The first phase of the I.E.C.M.S. was launched on 1 May 2022, at the Constitutional Court, Supreme Court and the Commercial Division of the High Court. -This July 2025, under his leadership, the Judicial Service Commission launched the I.E.C.M.S. in the magistrates courts. This phase marks the final stage of the digitisation of Zimbabwe's courts. -Mr Justice Malaba has participated in various training programmes both in the country and the region. Chief Sunday Igboho has finally attained the height I want him to in terms of public engagement. 1. He didn't make it a Yorùbá vs Fulani issue 2. He touched on religion 3. He didn't brag 4. He didn't insult anyone 5. He added political sympathy rather than separatist ideology. The only thing I didn't agree with is mentioning they will hand over criminals to security forces. I'm sure that's just diplomacy for the camera... Killeers belong to shallow graaves... They have no relatives to track or mourn over therm... We need more private securities springing up and we will get there...
