Iran doesn't need to fire a single missile at a US soldier. It just needs to destroy a water factory. The GCC has no natural fresh water. 60% comes from desalination plants. 80% of its food is imported. One drone. One plant. Millions without water. This war was never...

This is the asymmetric threat nobody in the Pentagon wants to discuss publicly. The numbers are staggering: • Saudi Arabia: 70% of drinking water from desalination. 30+ major plants along the Gulf coast. • UAE: 42% from desalination. Dubai has ~3 days of water reserves. • Kuwait: 90% desalinated. ONE successful strike = national emergency within 48 hours. • Qatar: Hosts Al Udeid (largest US air base in ME). 99% desalinated water. • Bahrain: Hosts US 5th Fleet. Almost entirely desalination-dependent. The defense problem: these plants are coastal, static, massive industrial targets. They can't be moved. They can't be hidden. And they're within range of Iran's cheapest weapons — Shahed drones at $20K each. Iran doesn't need hypersonic missiles for this. A $20K drone hitting a $2B desalination plant is the most cost-effective military strategy in history. The market implication nobody is pricing: if ANY GCC desalination plant gets hit, you don't just get an oil spike — you get a humanitarian crisis that forces the US to negotiate. Water > oil as a pressure point. This is why GCC states have been notably quiet about the war. They know their vulnerability. They're praying Iran doesn't escalate to infrastructure.

People should research the Iraq/Iran war of the 80's. We were financing Saddam back then. Up to 1 million died over the eight years of that war and neither side were victorious. Posting this so you understand what "boots on the ground" really means if you want to defeat Iran.

This time I have to disagree with the professor. Reverse osmosis facilities are very simple and the country is surrounded by ocean. If needed, the facility can be built underground (they have plenty of tunnels already). Pumping all the way to Tehran might be harder.

Well the IDF destroyed hundreds if not thousands of Palestinian wells, water pump stations. Perhaps it’s good that Israelis actually feel what it’s like for once.

Iran is already out of water, which was one of the reasons the protest took off. 1 hit to Iran's water system, and they are all dead. The only reason we have not hit it already is that we are on the Citizens' side.

Israelis should just flee the region. their government is out of control as in the USA's 14 million fleeing back to Europe is better than the chaos that will happen if Iran and/or Israel start targeting water supplies Trump is an idiot

If that were the US objective, we would have already destroyed their water supply as we have total military control of the country. The reason why we are not interested in doing that is because a disparate religious factions are what got us into this mess in the first place. So the first step is to rip out a the religious faction that has been in cultural retreat for the last 1400 years that took control of the country at the roots. Then the next step is to get the Arab nations that understand the benefits of a flourishing populous to understand that if they want to keep a flourishing populous that they need to be responsible for the outcome of the new Iran so that there will finally be peace over there.

Islamically you are corrupt to damage water bodies. So I don't think Iran will do that, Nobel Quran have laid detailed laws at war time not to damage crops, water bodies , women and children. So Iran won't do it.

3/3/26 Prof Jiang: How US loses v Iran. Iran’s cheap drones exhaust $m interceptors. Hormuz Straits cut off Gulf allies' food. Oil/gas +desalination plants +datacentres +Israeli nuclear sites hit. Petrodollar +Gulf+Saudi governments face existential risk.

It is not an islamic tradition to destroy water supply, Imam Hussain was martyed in Kerbela encircled for 10 days and for the last 3 days he was blocked from water supplies. This went into history as Ashura. Iranians would not cut water supplies to anybody. That is their moral.

🚨 WATER WARS: WHY DESALINATION PLANTS ARE THE GULF’S LIFELINE When missiles fly in the Middle East, people usually think of oil fields, pipelines, or military bases, but in the Gulf, there is another target that may be even more critical, water. The Iranian drone strike on a Bahraini desalination plant, and Iran’s claim that the U.S. targeted a similar facility on Qeshm Island, signals a dangerous new phase in the war. Because in the Gulf, desalination plants are essential for survival. Unlike most regions of the world, the Gulf has almost no natural freshwater. Rainfall is scarce, rivers are nonexistent, and groundwater reserves are limited and rapidly depleting. So Gulf states turned to the sea. Today, massive desalination plants pull salt from seawater and convert it into drinkable water for cities, industries, and agriculture. Without them, daily life across the region would collapse almost overnight. The Gulf Cooperation Council countries control roughly 60% of the world’s desalination capacity and produce about 40% of all desalinated water globally. More than 400 desalination plants operate across the region, quietly supplying the water that keeps cities running. In Kuwait, about 90% of drinking water comes from desalination. In Oman, it’s 86%. Even the United Arab Emirates, with one of the most advanced infrastructure systems on the planet, gets about 42% of its drinking water from the sea. That’s what makes attacks on these facilities so alarming. Unlike oil infrastructure, which affects markets and government revenue, desalination plants affect people immediately. Take out a refinery and the economy suffers. Take out a desalination plant and millions could lose access to drinking water. Energy infrastructure has always been part of regional conflict, but targeting water infrastructure raises the stakes dramatically.
