Have any of the construction sites halted since USAID stopped?

No. The sites themselves are all taxpayer funded so that won’t stop. The USAID funding cut will stop migrants getting into Ireland. Companies or investment funds acquire properties and then approach the government saying they have buildings to offer for accommodating migrants. The government introduced exemptions to planning laws meaning all types of buildings can be used, even those unfit for accommodation so it’s happening a lot. Then the government signs off, ignores objections from local council and offers a contract to the company / fund. They fill the site with migrants and start drawing down millions every 3 months. This system cost the Irish taxpayers over €3 billion last year. Over 50% of the companies involved are foreign owned and some are even owned by current government ministers. There’s an unlimited amount of migrants and an unlimited amount of taxpayer money to keep this going. Once the migrants stop coming this system won’t be as lucrative.

Who’s “paying “ for this?

We are. Taxpayers. The site is owned by a web of companies, Goldstein Icav, Tondo Ltd and then Seefin is the company being paid for accommodating the migrants. They’ve made millions in the last 3 months alone. Tens of millions in total.

Confiscate and give to Irish , then jail the developer.

😡🤬😡🤬. Why aren’t our countries taking care of the people who paid dearly into the system for decades & now need the assistance themselves. Govt can “find” millions of euros/dollars to assist those who never paid anything into it, but not its own people - WE have got to make changes to the system!
