Tesla Into Earnings: "Do NOT Buy" 🔊 Ahead of Tesla's Wednesday earnings, Hedgeye CEO Keith McCullough, Industrials Sector Head Jay Van Sciver Jay Van Sciver, and Communications analyst Oliver Richardson Oliver Richardson broke down the entire Musk complex on The Call @ Hedgeye. McCullough put Tesla, $TSLA among his top five most actionable names. "Do NOT buy it into Wednesday's print." A large manufacturer has enough degrees of freedom to force a good-looking quarter, and Musk always finds a way to make it work, which is exactly why chasing the stock into the number is the wrong move. Van Sciver widens the lens. The setup into earnings is the small story. The bigger one is valuation, and he calls the disconnect between Tesla's and SpaceX's valuations "the center of the mother of all bubbles," nonsense over the long arc. That raises the obvious question of what SpaceX, $SPCX, is actually worth. Richardson lays out the Communication team's framework, with buyers closer to $50 a share against a cash-hungry balance sheet and heavy capital commitments stacking up over the next 12 to 18 months.
