I never cease to be amazed at what some actors have to go through for the parts they play. I mean, yes, at this level they are *extremely* well compensated for it, ridiculously so some might say, but man, some of them do go through the wringer.

it should be possible to just 3d scan the face then print out a head. modellers can then work on that print out if they're making prosthetics whilst freeing up the actor to do other stuff.

Not magic... Just ridiculous skill, patience and years of practice. Watching them build that full head mold layer by layer is hypnotic. The way the blue goes on, then the white, the careful work around the eyes and mouth, and then the clean peel at the end… it’s one of those processes that looks effortless only because the people doing it are extremely good at what they do. Practical effects like this still hit different. In an era where almost everything can be done digitally, there’s something special about seeing a real physical mold come off someone’s face looking that clean. The woman in the chair also deserves credit ....sitting completely still through all of that takes real composure. This is the kind of craft that makes movies and TV feel tangible. Respect to the whole team in that room.
