This reel isn’t about @hubermanlab - he’s always careful and adds context when discussing nicotine. I should’ve clarified that in the video. This reaction is aimed at the negative and addictive effects of nicotine, not Andrew.

Nicotine feels like a performance hack, but it’s a trap long term Blunts baseline dopamine Lowers neuroplasticity Constricts blood vessels & raises BP Disrupts REM + deep sleep Fake focus (just avoiding withdrawal) Use it in moderation not daily imo

Bashes nicotine then proceeds to grift about his own products lol. Moderation obviously matters but nicotine pouches are one of the safest delivery methods. Tobacco harm reduction products have led to millions of smokers quitting and if used in a responsible way are relatively low risk. One of the biggest public health wins of this century is the minuscule amount of teen smokers compared to a few decades before.

Nicotine can be healthy but when you let it get out of control like this guy it ain’t. Buy a tin of Zyns… use the tin… then FORCE yourself to go 30 days before you can buy one again. Come on dudes get it together!

If you can't quit, you're mentally weak. Oh no, my tummy hurts, I don't feel good for a week, I can't handle it lol. If you want to quit, man up, stop buying them and you're fine in a few days. There's nothing else to it. I quit smoking cigarettes cold turkey 15 years ago, you can just do things.

I quit nicotine 2 months ago. I was using 12mg pouches, usually 7 every day. It was fine for the first few months and before I knew it I was in a rut. I had major symptoms of OCD, irrational fear and had zero motivation or focus. Quitting was the best thing for me.

I’m year 18 of nicotine, I’m pretty sure my cells are most nicotine at this point. I think his problem is he didn’t do enough, those were rookie numbers.

Dr Bryan Ardis "Pure Nicotine Is Not Addictive...The FDA & Tobacco Manufacturers Know This, Which Is Why They Add Addictive Pyrazines To Tobacco Products." We have nicotinic receptors, or receptors for nicotine, all throughout the body in our muscles & brain & gut, indicating that nicotine is something that our body uses. The FDA allows 600 chemicals, including 15 pyrazines, to be added to cigarettes & commercial tobacco products to make them highly addictive. Nicotine causes neo-angiogenesis (the making of new blood cells), cell division, proliferation, & affects both neural & non-neural cells. Nicotine can stimulate dopamine & thyroid hormones that we need. While tobacco is the highest nicotine containing plant, foods like eggplant & potatoes also have surprising amounts of nicotine in them, along with many other fruits & vegetables like cabbage, peppers, celery, cauliflower, tomatoes, nuts, carrots, spinach, bananas, blueberries, tea & many more. These plants are well known for having multiple health benefits. Clearly there would not be so many nicotinic receptors, or so many sources in foods if nicotine were not a nutrient.
