It's deliberate govt policy. Andrew Bridgen explained that they're coming in on the dinghies because when they get picked up they're classed as "caught at sea" & allowed benefits, accommodation, etc. The whole thing is a scam orchestrated by the British govt.

Actually there just has to be proof that its 'controlled' by another. So they will try and prosecute and say the French Lifeguard was in control of the boat at the time of the slashing. However the livestream shows the Lifeguard stepped onto the boat as the slashing had already commenced. Thats why the dropped the reckless endangerment, because effectively the lifeguard put himself in danger by stepping onto it mid slashing. Also the other boat and the lifeguard wearing a lifejacket makes it a difficult point to prove. So they can prosecute via the livestream video and with the French coastguard and evidence of the damaged boat. So its unlikely we will see any details of ownership. Another interesting part of the case is that authorisation to seize the phone was given to the police by a judge because of the endangerment charges. But those charges have been dropped? I think Tommo will be ok personally.
