Is there anything more useless than an HOA?

My HOA fees, when I had to temporarily live somewhere else while my house was being fixed up for a year, was $200 a month. My parking spot was next the condo's trash dump and my car got keyed sooo much. I complained to the HOA and they said "tough shit" while counting my cash.

The residents of the community control the HOA. They can call for an election and have the board removed and take it over themselves. At the very least, they should hire a lawyer with knowledge in real estate matters and get it taken care of.

Only thing I can come up with is the federal government.

HOAs are always run by people who never got to be the boss in real life, so now they want to power trip.

I am not sorry that I don't feel bad for people dumb enough to buy in an HOA .... There is nothing beneficial enough to buy a home in an HOA, to have someone tell me what I can or cannot do with my home and yard.... Then charge me a fee on top of it ....

I bought one home with an HOA attached. Never again. HOA's are definitely the prime example of "Fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me."
