Most AI discussions ignore the physical reality: a lot of facilities still can’t support liquid cooling. At NVIDIA GTC, Lenovo’s Jon Alexander explained that across 4,400 global locations, many sites still aren’t ready for liquid cooling. Some environments support megawatts of power, others are limited to air cooling in last-mile telco facilities. That reality is shaping how AI infrastructure actually gets deployed. At the same time, AI is moving so fast that supply chain and time-to-market are becoming competitive advantages. $PLTR is one of the cleanest ways to play the AI cycle because it benefits from the entire infrastructure buildout without financing the data centers, chips, memory, power or networking underneath it. Palantir is also emerging as one of the biggest sovereign AI winners by building the control layer that determines what AI understands, which proprietary data it can access and what decisions or actions it can influence inside an organization. the IBM earnings reinforced something I think Wall Street is still underestimating: IBM is becoming an operating system for enterprise AI. The initial earnings reaction focused on the familiar metrics—revenue growth, infrastructure, margins and quarterly expectations. But that misses the bigger transformation underway. The AI market is bifurcating. On one side are companies building frontier models. On the other are companies helping enterprises operationalize AI—integrating it with existing systems and data, governing it, securing it, and turning AI into measurable business outcomes. IBM is increasingly positioning itself for that second market. And that's important because the enterprise AI conversation is moving from models to tools, from experimentation to outcomes, and ultimately toward autonomy and agents. IBM has decades of enterprise infrastructure, software, data and consulting relationships sitting underneath that transition. The mainframe isn't necessarily legacy in this world—it can become part of the context and transaction infrastructure AI acts upon. Wall Street initially looked at the quarter. I think the fear is real, but the “AI will no longer need humans at all” part is overhyped. AI running data centers will cause a loss of a ton of jobs, coding, customer service, data entry, even some creative work, and we’re already seeing tens of thousands of AI-linked layoffs. That disruption is coming fast. But AI still needs humans for maintenance, repair, building the infrastructure, making decisions, and inventing new things. Full self-sufficiency where machines run everything without any people is further down the road. Job loss is the real issue to worry about, not total human obsolescence.
