If you read older books, even ones about the US, they always refer to the Islamic culture as a good reference, and they talk about how highly regarded places like Egypt were for their theology and literature. Now, our entire media landscape is telling us to hate and fear Islam. I started reading this recently, I thought I knew a lot about American history before. This proved that I still know nothing.

It was Muslim history, not Arab history. Most Arabs had little to do with the scientific achievements of Islam the majority of Muslim scientists were Persian, with others being Turkish or North African (Berbers). I hate how Arabs have hijacked Muslim history!

Actually, zero was founded by Indian Hindus. The creator of Algebra al-Khwārizmī, was a Persian Zorastrian. As for language, that wasn't an Islamic invention that was Arab which was mostly Zorastrian at the time. Summerians and Babylonians founded astronomy, and so did aspects of Eastern religions such as Buddhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Sikhism.

All those scholars fled to Europe when Islam started expanding in the Arab world..

It is not at all true. Most of.the sciences practised by the Arabs they got from the christian byzantine empire which they took by force. The architect of the great blue mosk of Istanbul/ Constantinopel was a christian.
