The argument is always the same: “If you have nothing to hide, why worry?” But privacy is not reserved for people hiding something. It is a fundamental right in a free society, protected precisely because unchecked government surveillance is dangerous. Will Freeman, founder of DeFlock, is challenging Flock Safety’s expanding camera network. The fight surrounding Freeman, Flock CEO Garrett Langley, and the lawsuit known as Langley v. Freeman exposes the deeper issue: once surveillance infrastructure is built, who decides how it will be used, and where does it stop? Flock cameras are only one piece. Palantir’s technology can fuse satellite imagery, radar, cameras, sensors, and other data into a real-time operational picture. On a battlefield, that means tracking targets and building strike packages. But what happens when that same logic- identify, track, fuse, predict, act is turned on the public? Flock cameras. Flock Safety has deployed a nationwide network of more than 100,000 AI-powered surveillance cameras. In many communities, these cameras are positioned not only along roadways, but near schools, playgrounds, churches, and other places where Americans exercise their Constitutional rights. One example is a camera located near Rocky Bayou Baptist Church in Niceville, Florida. Does the federal government need to track who attends this church on a Sunday morning? Floridians deserve answers about why these AI surveillance cameras are needed and how the data they collect is being used. This is America, not China. The fundamental question is simple: Should government be able to monitor who attends a church, political meeting, or community gathering without judicial oversight? I believe the answer is no. Across the country, surveillance technology is expanding rapidly, yet many citizens remain unaware of where cameras are located, who has access to the data, and how that information may be used. Transparency and accountability must come before mass surveillance. As your next U.S. Congressman for Florida's First District, I will work to protect Americans' Constitutional rights and push for legislation requiring warrants before government agencies can use surveillance technology to monitor the activities of law-abiding citizens. I do not want my daughter's generation to inherit fewer freedoms than the generations that came before us. We should embrace innovation without sacrificing the liberties that define America.
