It doesn’t get any more clear than this American bought a grocery store cucumber and a cucumber from a local farm She cuts them up, they look different. Then she sets out the cut up pieces overnight In the morning the grocery store cucumbers are not touched, the local...

MAHA was just another lie! Trump gave mass immunity for the glyphosate production companies like roundup! Can’t make money off a healthy population!

I believe the difference is in the variety of cucumber rather than the treatment(s) used with the two different varieties. The farm-grown cucumber is something like a straight-eight or marketmore - seeded varieties. The english or greenhouse type cucumber is a seedless variety (like a seedless watermelon it isn't completely seedless but seeds are smaller, less developed....). Look again at the portion of the cucumber slices that have been eaten. Whatever enjoyed the meal, it is obvious it preferred cucumber seeds and the softer pulp surrounding the seeds than the firm flesh of the cucumber near the exterior. More seeds, more eaten. This is not an issue. Not for or against, not taking sides, just using a bit of garden and wildlife experience and connecting dots.

Without all those chemicals prices would be so expensive most people wouldn't be able to afford it. The prices for the farmers market would also go through the roof because supply and demand. Ag is a ruff subject when you get into it

She compared a seedless cucumber and a regular one and is amazed they look different

I don't buy organic because I think it makes it into some superfood, I just want food without the chemicals. I regularly advocate for cooking at home, but when the ingredients themselves are even problematic, its a real frustration.

I want to point out that the grocery store cucumber is an english cucumber, and is not the same as the farmer stand cucumbers.

We know. That's why I eat seasonally and locally. I grow my own lettuce, spinach, corn, beans, carrots, onions, bunching onions, cukes, squash, tomatoes, peas, asparagus, blueberries. I buy local eggs, meat, and hunt. I buy my potatoes locally, I can't plant any for five years, as my last crop had a fungus, so local works. No matter where you live, you can have a veggie garden. Use buckets, bags, doesn't matter. I also have three kinds of pear trees to eat fresh and can, and really old Apple trees for applesauce and juice. I grow mint for jelly and tea, and wild grapes for same. They are trying to kill us.

This happened to me with cabbage bought at the store and also baby carrots in a bag the wildlife didn't touch either so I started getting my carrots from a shop that sells locally grown produce there's got to be something wrong with it if the animals won't touch it

A lot of local orchards and farms also use chemicals, sprays, etc. including the Amish. Look for those who say they don’t. Just because it’s sold at a Farmer’s market doesn’t always guarantee food is free of chemicals.

I notice this type of thing with my dog and lots of foods he should normally be fighting for he won’t even touch! Something isn’t right with 75% of our food these days!

I am all for supporting local farmers because their products are better than those from big Ag but if she thinks local farmers don’t use pesticides on their products, she must be on crack.

As someone who has farmers in their family I have one question; What substitute is going to replace them in the fields ? Because between the insects, the weeds, and the wild life there will be no crops.

If you're going to make claims, do the experiment correctly. First, she should have done the experiment at more than just one site (within her yard is just fine). Statistics matter. Second, people wash before eating. Wash the cucumbers before setting them out.

I bought a frozen pizza the crust tasted like crap so I put it on any pile. The ants had nothing to do with it. Even the local skunk wanted nothing to do with it. It’s been a week and it’s still there almost the same as the day I left it there.

If you can't buy farm fresh at least soak all of your store bought fruits and vegetables for 15-20 minutes in a bowl of distilled water with 1 /2 teaspoon of Baking Soda.

This is a very simple matter. To get good ingredients, you need to buy seasonal produce directly from farmers. The fact that supermarkets use pesticides is a problem that should have been considered long ago.

A wild turtle that visits our yard, refused to eat anything from a left over veggie tray. Another time I left out half a water melon (seedless) and no wild life touched it in days, hardly even attracted bugs. (Yard has a lot of rando wild animals around.)
