Smashing afternoon. The turntable gets a blessing from the Bishop of Truro, there’s some rousing speeches (except mine), and a celebrity steam engine. Pleased that @HistoricEngland kickstarted this with a £49k grant.

Why does the tender have a diaphragm? Can you walk through the tender?

Yes, so crews could be changed whilst on the move, important for non-stop London-Edinburgh runs.

@Heritagelocum Interesting, thanks, I've never seen the view from inside a tender. But it seems the passageway was very narrow... not very comfortable to walk through.
