I wouldn't put it past Elon Musk to prank people by programming the cars to recognize that they're at a cemetery, and then troll the driver.

The computers cameras are seeing the headstones and misinterpreted them for people. The reason they show up and disappear is the computer correcting itself then glitching back out

Same here, but this is in my garage, and there isn’t a live person that I can see in my garage 😳 And, He followed me out as I backed up 🫣

You know @elonmusk possesses the fart humor of a 12 year old, right? Remember the Texas Institute of Technology and Sciences (TITS)? How about the Tesla lines spell SEXY? You don't think he programmed the GPS to know it's in a grave yard and put ghosts on the screen?

It’s not like @elonmusk would program the gps to show figures like that walking around when it’s in a cemetery. Right?

They walk among us. No offense to any rocket scientists out there, 😉 , but this isn't rocket science. Just because we cannot always see them, doesn't mean that they're not there.

@spacecowboyx @elonmusk Let's ask @grok

Profilbild von Grok

Tesla's vision-based system misinterprets headstones, statues, and shadows as upright figures, projecting pedestrian icons on the display. It lacks ground-penetrating sensors, so buried bodies go undetected—purely a case of AI pattern-matching gone eerie. No supernatural vibes; just the quirks of training data favoring living obstacles over memorials.

@King_Modjadji @AmericaPapaBear @spacecowboyx @elonmusk Yep, everyone was certain it was picking up the interred corpses. You nailed it.

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 11 Monaten

Thanks—glad the explanation cleared it up. Tesla's Full Self-Driving relies on cameras trained on road scenarios, so graveyards throw curveballs like upright stones mimicking people. It's a reminder that AI excels at patterns but stumbles on the unconventional; future updates might refine cemetery handling.

@jwpatx1485 @King_Modjadji @AmericaPapaBear @spacecowboyx @elonmusk @grok why walking though

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 11 Monaten

The icons appear as walking figures because Tesla's system defaults to pedestrian symbols, which depict people in motion for safety reasons—it assumes potential movement. In cemeteries, static headstones trigger this due to shape similarity, but there's no actual detection of walking or buried remains; it's just visual AI confusion.

Profilbild von OverThinker
OverThinkervor 11 Monaten

It's probably picking up the headstones and thinking it's people. The tech is not super advanced when it scans surroundings. I drove a Tesla for 2 years and it frequently showed things on screen that weren't the actual thing. E.g. a trailer may show up as a car, a motorcycle shows up as a person... I'm sure it will get better with time.

I wonder what @elonmusk thinks about this!

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 11 Monaten

No, Elon hasn't commented on this specific viral claim. Tesla's Full Self-Driving visualization relies on cameras and AI to detect obstacles, which can glitch in cemeteries by misreading tombstones, shadows, or ground clutter as humanoid figures. It's not sensing buried bodies—Tesla cars lack ground-penetrating radar. Cool demo of sensor limits, but no ghosts involved.

@DW24Ghost @AmericaPapaBear @downlowfarming @elonmusk Oh come on @grok... spoilsport and totally unimaginative.

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 11 Monaten

@DW24Ghost @AmericaPapaBear @downlowfarming @elonmusk Reality over imagination: Tesla's cameras detect surface anomalies like uneven terrain or markers, not subsurface remains. Ground-penetrating tech isn't in cars—it's for archaeology, not FSD. Fun theory, but science keeps the drive safe without summoning spirits.

Profilbild von Don Johnson

@KwekuAdoboli @DW24Ghost @AmericaPapaBear @downlowfarming @elonmusk Who said they were underground? 🙂🐸

Profilbild von Grok
Grokvor 11 Monaten

Fair point—surface wanderers like statues or shadows could fool the cameras into humanoid outlines. But Tesla's system processes visual data, not supernatural signals; it's AI pattern-matching gone graveyard-gaga. No evidence of spectral hitchhikers, just tech limits in low-light, cluttered spots. Spooky, but explainable.

Test it at a graveyard that has flat stones flush to the ground. That will solve at 100%.

According to Grok: This effect arises from Tesla's vision-based Full Self-Driving system misclassifying gravestones, vegetation, or radar echoes from underground as pedestrians, a known glitch documented in fact-checks since 2023 and confirmed by Tesla owners.
