This Tuktuk was stopped by NTSA and traffic police officers while carrying eight passengers instead of the recommended four on the Kisumu-Nairobi Road. Needless to say it was dangerously overloaded. I hope the cyclist, who fled the scene, will be made to face justice for his reckless behaviour. To all passengers, please don't encourage this kind of unsafe road behaviour by keeping quiet. Protest when you see a bus driver or a Tuktuk cyclist starting to overload. Let's stop risking lives on our roads. Remember that road safety is everyone's responsibility.

IMPUNITY AND IGNORANCE OF THE EXISTING LAWS!!. It is deeply concerning to see so many pedestrians choosing to cross busy roads at unsafe points instead of using the footbridges provided for their safety. This risky behavior continues to result in avoidable accidents, injuries, and even loss of life. Today along Mombasa Road, I witnessed several people ignoring a nearby footbridge and opting for a dangerous shortcut across the highway. While it may seem faster or more convenient in the moment, the consequences can be devastating. Footbridges are constructed specifically to protect lives, and using them should not be optional but a shared responsibility. We shall deploy our officers to arrest anyone who is found in violation of the law, especially those who avoid using the flyovers and instead opt to risk their lives by competing with vehicles an act that often leads to unnecessary accidents and loss of lives. Road safety is a collective effort drivers, pedestrians, and authorities all have a role to play. There is a need for increased public awareness, stricter enforcement of traffic rules, and a mindset shift among pedestrians to prioritize safety over convenience. No shortcut is worth risking a life. Let us all choose to be more responsible and encourage others to do the same.

This is from my visit to Nagaland for a Road safety session before HornBill festival in Nov 2024. Traffic jam in a remote section on the hills. Not a single policeman within miles… No road markings, potholes, bad roads, But Nobody crossing to wrong side. This is also India and they are also Indians. Why we on the plains are always finding excuses to break the rules. If you are a good person, you follow the rules, whether the cops are watching or not, that’s it. The road construction on Princess Park Street has been progressing quite well and we grateful for the continued support and patience of the community and road users. The final road layer is in progress and it is anticipated that the surfacing be completed by Friday 12 December 2025. The safety of the road users is the core priority and it is for this reason that the Roads and Transport will implement pre-markings and install temporary stop signs for the entire festive season as the road will be open for traffic soon. As the MMC for Roads and Transport I have visited the site on regular basis since the commencement of construction ,to ensure that the set milestones and commitments to the residents of Tshwane are fulfilled.

Today I held two important meetings to review the progress on creation of the new TMARS-Traffic Management and Road Safety Bureau of TG and the TADASC- Telangana Anti Drug & Safety Committees in all educational institutions. Work on these has been going on for the last couple of months and is nearing fruition The TMARS is proposed to lead to standardisation of Traffic Management practices across the state and also enhance road safety through Highway patrolling and also taken up maintenance of traffic signals, setting up new ones , road signages and infra etc. The TADASC will extend the drive against narcotics into all educational institutions and make educational institutions responsible for spotting and informing the law enforcement authorities about any suspicious behaviour of students . The students will have to give affidavits regarding drugs and the educational institutions will be liable for not implementing this. They will appoint campus safety coordinators and work with students and authorities and will also look into ragging, acts against dignity of girl students, traffic awareness. Unless we save our next generation against this danger, we are going to lose this war against Drugs. #TelanganaPolice

In our Urban Development and Municipal Affairs departments, we have taken the principle decision that parking on both sides of the road, which has continued illegally for 15 years, will now be regulated. Parking will be allowed only on the designated side of the road, while parking on the other side will not be permitted. Secondly, parking fees are being collected illegally in parking lots, and taxes from these collections are not being paid to the government. These illegal collections must be stopped immediately so that the entire tax amount goes to the government. Also, the helpline number was not only a women’s helpline number; it was a child helpline number. The same number should now be integrated as a women’s helpline number as well. If anyone faces any problem, both the women’s helpline and child helpline numbers should remain active. In both the Women and Child department and the Urban Development and Municipal Affairs department, a call centre should be set up so that the public can call these two departments and share their issues and grievances. She adds, "Lastly, wherever there is pollution, we have seen over the last 15 years in Bengal, in Kolkata and Asansol, that garbage is lying everywhere and is not being cleaned. Now this responsibility is also being given to the public through geotagging. We have developed an app where people can send geotagged pictures, and within two hours the corporation or municipality will come and clean the area. But along with this, I also need the cooperation of the public. We should not throw garbage on the roads. Prevention is better than cure. Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has impounded at least five passenger vehicles, including three buses and two minibus taxis, for violating road safety regulations. The vehicles were intercepted on the N1 south outside Polokwane during routine road safety operations, transporting passengers from Zimbabwe to Gauteng in excess of their permitted capacity. Emergency responders, including the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service and other relevant agencies, are already on ground and have successfully contained the situation to prevent escalation. We urge members of the public to exercise restraint, caution, and civic responsibility. Pune has a chronic behavioral problem of driving on the wrong side of the road. I got time to edit the video to my daily route today. In this 3 min video you will see gig works, women, school vans, dumpsters, auto mafias, cyclists, bikers, almost every niche driving on the wrong side. No fear whatsoever. You will see me honking as well to grab their attention because car owners like me will be blamed first if something happens. And with ADAS level 2 it is more riskier because car can sudden brake anytime and the vehicle behind me will cause more damage. We need a revolution for this. Maybe they are driving on wrong side due to long u turns? or to save some fuel or to save time or out of habit or maybe because all of it but no one is there to keep a check on them. No cameras no police no volunteers nothing. And this is non traffic hours. You can imagine 6-8pm traffic with high beams on the wrong side on a state highway.

A group of thieves stormed the vehicle, forcefully removed the spare part, and fled the scene within minutes. Sadly, such criminal acts have now become increasingly common in Nairobi. The Nairobi County Government, working closely with the National Police Service, will intensify security operations within the CBD and other affected areas to ensure the safety of motorists and residents. We are committed to strengthening enforcement measures, increasing patrols, enhancing surveillance, and ensuring that all culprits involved in these criminal activities are swiftly arrested and prosecuted.

Five passenger vehicles impounded in Limpopo for overloading on N1 near Polokwane The Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety has impounded at least five passenger vehicles, including three buses and two minibus taxis, for violating road safety regulations. The vehicles were intercepted on the N1 south outside Polokwane in Limpopo during routine road safety operations, transporting passengers from Zimbabwe to Gauteng in excess of their permitted capacity. Spokesperson for Limpopo Department of Transport and Community Safety, Matome Taueatsoala, said a minibus taxi licensed to carry 14 passengers was found transporting over 20 people, including minors who were forced to sit on cooler boxes and luggage, posing a serious risk to passenger safety. "Overloading remains a leading contributor to road crashes, and we won't tolerate it on our roads," says the department. The vehicles are being held at Polokwane Traffic Control Centre pending further action," she said.
