It is easy and cheap to lecture protesting Iranians about international agreements. To say that other countries must not carry out military interventions because it would violate Iran’s right to self-determination. But Iran is not the same as the machinery of violence that holds 100 million people hostage. Iran... is precisely those people whose right to self-determination has been taken away. That is why they are calling for strikes inside their country against the apparatus of oppression — because they themselves have no weapons. They are calling on the United States for help, because Europe merely watches from the sidelines and has practiced appeasement toward the Islamist dictatorship for decades. The longer we wait, the more Iranians will be slaughtered on their own streets while demanding freedom. Here is Yasmin Vossoughian Reports talking to someone inside Iran. This is journalism, not what CNN is doing by sending Frederik Pleitgen to Iran as journalist who is controlled by the regime and only reports regime propaganda narratives. Also, this is for the “Pahlavi has no support in Iran” & “no one knows who Pahlavi is in Iran” crowd. And for those who have been attacking the diaspora/Iranians inside Iran, calling them “vatan foroush” aka “one who sells out their own country” People need to stop pretending they speak for Iranians inside Iran while ignoring what many inside Iran are actually saying. Even in this clip, our brother inside Iran clearly says people support Reza Pahlavi and need someone like him. You do not have to “want war” to understand why many Iranians believe the regime cannot be defeated by bare hands against Basij, and the IRGC. No sane Iranian wants to see their homeland bombed, but the blame for where we are belongs first and foremost to the Islamic Republic, not to Iranians in the diaspora and not to Iranians inside Iran who believe outside help is necessary. We are all governed by our algorithms. Mine is dominated by animals, Iran, Gaza, Donald Trump and Cole Palmer. You’d be confused by my feed. Especially the Cole Palmer Plantagenet haircut memes. However, many have missed the IRGC in Iran boasting of their two day murdering spree in January killing 95,000 innocent Iranians (their numbers, not mine), simply for protesting. We have shared why this happened. We have shared that it is still happening. We have shared that students across Iran - incredibly and bravely - are still protesting. Right now. Despite the threat of a bullet to the head. Yet - in addition to missing it - they do everything to deny it. They say nothing about the mass extermination but all of a sudden say “NO to war in Iran.” Without any knowledge of the plight of the people of Iran over the last 47 years. Without any understanding that Iranians have attempted liberation many times and failed because there was never a level playing field. Today was very special for Bryan and I to stand tall with and for the People of Iran. Thank you to Darya Safai for inviting me and allowing us to pray together for the tens of thousands of Iranians murdered by this “sick” regime, as President Trump has said of them. As US Ambassador to Belgium, the USA supports the will of the Iranian people for a better future. While we have interacted with many external opposition figures, we want to be clear that, as The President has said, the U.S. does specifically not endorse Reza Pahlavi or any specific opposition leader. Rather, we wholeheartedly support the will of the Iranian people in Iran for a better future for them and their families. I met three mothers whose sons were killed by the regime for simply walking in the streets holding candles for peace. We took a moment of silence for all those who have been killed. We stand with the great people of Iran.
