@daddyhope , a person who says "you" instead of "we" is almost implying they are living in Mars while addressing people on earth. That person is saying "I am fine" but "you" are not. Its the "we" that matters in a leader.

Yes Chapman is eloquent, charismatic and all but now is not the time for pulling such stunts. We must unite all Zimbabweans for a common cause to remove ZANU PF once. These side shows are not necessary. He won't win. So svimavotes svitatu ngawedzere to CCC.

I think the presenter is on to something big, but where I disagree with her is that she accuses African leaders and gives a subtle pass to African citizens. It is not true that African citizens were oblivious to what Trump or Epstein are. They knew, but they simply did not have the ability to think critically that when Trump talks about LGBT issues, it is not necessarily that he does not support them, but that he understood there is a group of foolish people out there who would buy into that rhetoric without interrogating why he was deploying it. Some of Trump’s best friends, like Peter Mandelson, are gay, yet some Africans were foolish enough to believe that Trump is anti-gay. He simply understood how human beings operate, that there are times when people fail to think, a tragic failure to think, and they just go with the flow. If you ask Africans today what they gained from the perceived homophobia that Trump projected, which we know was political theatre targeted at a particular audience, they will not be able to tell you. Trump might be many things to many people. I do not like him and everybody knows that, but the one thing I respect him for is that he understands his audience. He knows what to say when he is talking to foolish people. He knows what to say when he is talking to idiotic people. He knows what to say when he is talking to sycophants. He knows what to say when he is talking to people who do not understand the world of politics, and he gets away with it. And for that, I give it to him. He becomes a political superstar precisely because you then have black people in Africa supporting him. That in itself shows you the scale of political illiteracy that exists, where people rally behind rhetoric crafted to manipulate them, not to advance their interests.

It is my considered view that the monumental problems that Zimbabwe faces today now require the main opposition CCC to appoint a shadow cabinet from its parliamentary cohort. Someone needs to articulate healthcare issues, corruption issues, energy sector issues and so on. You can’t have anyone and everyone speaking on what they choose to speak on at any given day. Since they are having their parliamentary committees organised, a shadow cabinet is critical because it shows that they are a credible alternative driven by competent people. In the past the opposition has appointed people who have failed to articulate issues and were just there carrying titles that they don’t know how to use, this must change. I have posted a video below on water to illustrate the importance of what needs to be addressed and how it should be addressed. It is important that shadow ministers appointed by CCC are able to articulate such issues with easy clarity. ZANUPF must be made to account for its actions daily, this hasn’t been happening, slogans are not enough. What is needed is substance that is explained with clarity and easy to understand to for the ordinary citizens. Dre Ibbo Mandaza said what many are saying quietly that the opposition doesn’t have capable people, Nelson Chamisa must demonstrate that he has these people and only a shadow cabinet. The opposition must give confidence to business, churches, civil society, students, international community and the media that it is capable and not another Chakwera if it wants to be taken seriously. This can only be done through a shadow cabinet, we await and hope that the wait will not be in vain. Opposing a bad system doesn’t make you a democrat, how you run your affairs is what makes you a democrat or an autocrat! We need a shadow cabinet urgently, and we hope we will get one soon!

Bill Maher, the most coherent voice on the left, speaking with complete sense. 💯 Sure, I know some people will point to other things he has said where they don’t happen to agree with him, but that’s fine. The fact is, he is able to tackle complex or even not so complex issues with clarity and honesty in a way that few others on either side of the spectrum do, and that deserves recognition.
