Fact check: the constitution forbids the exclusion of non citizens from the census. The constitution mandates that all persons be counted in the census, with no regard to legal status.

The Census was established back in the days when people had morals and standards. The Census is horribly inaccurate now. People lie about the number in the household. They lie about citizenship. They even lie about ethnicity. When genealogists try to account for records taken in the 2000s 70 years from now they are going to be screwed due to the volumes of erroneous data contained in the records. It's sad.

You realize for 235 years, as mandated by the Constitution, the census happens every 10 years and its purpose is to enumerate (count) the population. That is the stated purpose.

It is understandable, but the Constitution requires counting all persons, regardless of citizenship. Unless a constitutional amendment is passed and ratified to require only US Citizens be counted, there is nothing much that can be done. It's not that easy. The Census process could be changed to count only U.S. citizens, but not without significant legal, constitutional, and political changes -- most importantly - a constitutional amendment! That's why Trump failed in his first term in trying to change it.

The census must be done anytime within the 10 years. The Constitution does not prohibit the census from being done more frequently.

It would take a constitutional ammendment to count only citizens. Although, they made massive mistakes during the last census, all benefitting democrats. DeSantis has called for it to be redone.

SCOTUS has never ruled on the claim of who should be counted under the Enumeration Clause when @POTUS had brought it up in July 2020 and Biden withdrew it. After the passage of Article 14, Section 2, in 1866, when slavery ended, the section states "count the whole number of persons in each State." While Congress has debated immigration after 1868, no Law has changed Article 14. Enumeration of Illegal Immigrants was last debated in 2024, the House passed the Equal Representation Act (H.R. 7109), which would require a citizenship question in future censuses and exclude noncitizens from apportionment. The bill was never considered by the Democrat led Senate, or its companion Senate version S. 3659. The House and Senate should reengage on the Equal Representation Act to clarify proper enumeration in the Census. I would like to see attorneys like @JonathanTurley and @SpeakerJohnson weigh in on the Constitutionality of Article 14, Section 2 and/or revitalization of the Equal Representation Act. @SenatorHagerty @MarshaBlackburn
