"It is really a catastrophic situation in Haiti... [though] it can be gotten under control," says Roberto Alvarez, Dominican Republic Foreign Minister. But "armed intervention by itself does not solve the Haitian problem... It will ultimately be up to the Haitians themselves."

@RobalsdqAlvarez The international community cannot leave the Haitian responsibility on the backs of the Dominicans. The Dominican Republic 🇩🇴 is the one that suffers the most from Haitian instability. Stop attacking us for protecting our borders and not ending up like Haiti.

@RobalsdqAlvarez Yo no sabía que el canciller de República Dominicana era también canciller de Haití y por ende debe estar dando informaciones del vecino Haití. Increíble la traición de este gobierno 😒

@RobalsdqAlvarez Thanks Minister. You expressed yourself amazingly well. Great responses and demonstration of knowledge about this conflict. The International community cannot ask DR more than it has done for Haiti. We’ll always be willing to help our neighbor country, but we can’t do it alone

@RobalsdqAlvarez And now is important for CNN. Dominicans have been trying so hard to make ONU, OEA, CARIBCOM, ETC. That Haiti needs all kind of help otherwise the situation would agrevates, but everyone turn deaf ears. Dominican Republic doesn't have the solution to Haiti problems. G7 does.
