It is simply unacceptable that our Justice Minister expressed empathy this morning for terrorists who committed the most horrendous atrocities. An awful message for our victims & survivors to hear - especially from the person running justice.

Yesterday, I appointed Ivy Lee as the inaugural Director of the Office of Victim and Witness Rights. The formation of this new department signals a major step forward for victims, advocates, and survivors. It strengthens our pursuit of justice and transparency for victims who often feel ignored in the criminal justice process, serving as both a safety net and an accountability partner for the City. Thank you to Supervisor Catherine Stefani for spearheading the creation of this office and all those committed to making it a success.
