Bernie understands the cost of purges. He’s spent decades making inroads by being strategic, not burning down every bridge in sight. You can agree or disagree with his politics, but he knows that movements lose power when they chase purity over outcomes.

It's not personal relationships — it's his legacy. He doesn't want to be Nadered. Ralph Nader did many great things for the American people but he's chiefly — and mistakenly — remembered for something at the end of his career. Bernie doesn't want to be remembered as a spoiler.

I think he is a loyal soldier, and that’s a shame in this dystopian moment. He told us repeatedly that “change comes from the bottom up” and “it’s not me, it’s us.” We need to stop looking to Bernie for approval or for him to lead, he obviously doesn't want to do it.
