they took a look at their baby outfits and were like: holy shit this would make for banger plumber outfits

Tbf they only don't have the white gloves. Which is what the one family member egged Mario about, but still, yeah

Overalls are common baby clothes

Btw he majorly criticized the white gloves being part of their uniforms, with Mario saying that’s the trademark of their outfits, which they probably had been wearing when they were babies, just without the white gloves

Maybe the overalls were just popular baby wear during the time the Mario brothers were younger. Then the brothers decided to stick with the overalls for their uniforms even if the style wasn’t popular anymore, because it helped them stand out, like Mario says to his uncle.

Maybe they’ve had these fits for so long that they realized they don’t have to buy any clothes but use the clothes they already have as their trademark for their company

This is clearly foreshadowing that their flashback is fabricated and that they are actually also made of stardust because they're so super cool and stuff

Essentially they’re wearing outfits they wore as kids and they thought it was ridiculous ❓ That’s what I’m getting from this

I think the movie is more so pointing out the white gloves being the oddity and the overalls And if not, maybe they just like wearing overalls but never did so in public

I mean they weren’t wearing the gloves back then to be fair

They’re only making fun of the gloves, if you look in the flashback, they aren’t wearing gloves

@OJ_Juice07 Adam Diamondbolt mentioned?!

They based their uniforms off of their childhood outfits. Duh

I guess Baby Mario and Luigi were wearing the same outfits as their adult counterparts So that way you can tell they are still Mario and Luigi

Maybe that’s why they’re criticizing the outfit? Because it looks childish maybe. In a literal sense now with them wearing similar outfits as kids (likely made of soft fabrics instead of denim) and they never abandoned their favorite colors. The hats I have no clue though

star wars level of excuses here but i like to believe they always just wore them as signature outfits and decided to make that their brand of their business, they maybe even quit their previous job because they couldn't wear their signature fits.

I'd argue it's over the gloves. Since plumbers don't traditionally wear white gloves if ever. But good point.

Simple: They had this design as kids, liked it, and decided to make an uniform based on that, which doesn't match the usual plumber outfits, so that's makes a brand for them.

I thought this could be easily explained that their mom dressed them up like that as kids to be cute. They later used these costumes from their mom as inspiration for their business— not that crazy

I mean, babies also wear overalls and plumbers do always gotta wear overalls sometimes (also you can assume they always had those hats when they were little too I guess)

maybe i'm stupid but i thought like in the movie the baby versions of them were just "them" in that moment but babies. like they still had the clothes they had on when they got baby-fied just smaller

It was a lifelong dream

They spent all their fundings (their life savings) on their van and tools and they couldn’t afford any new plumbing uniforms, so they just used their normal clothes instead and got cheap white gloves as they were on sale. That’s my guess

Illuminations needs better writers

“What’s with the outfits” could just been them being made fun of for still wearing the same clothes they did as kids.

i mean i think anyone would get ragged on for wearing the outfits they wore as babies

I guess if I had to theorize/make a headcanon that attempts to fix the plothole...

i always thought Mario was saying the trademark was the white gloves, not the outfits

Overalls are popular for babies, Having signature colors for twins/closely-had siblings is common to help differentiate them, Overalls are popular for both construction and plumbing It's clearly what they liked to wear anyway and fit their profession, so they made it their brand

Gloves

@Q_Review Adam calm down you’re going to have an aneurism

Unc still reminding them to this day

My guy did you watch the movie he only talking about the gloves
