Surreal interview on BBC Newsnight where presumably the producer thought that Dale Vince would be anti North Sea oil and gas. But instead of pushing that line Dale Vince explained how, despite it not being ideal, North Sea oil and gas could bring down UK bills if pricing was disconnected from the international markets. Faisal Islam was in shock at hearing the above, expecting instead outright criticism of continued drilling in the North Sea. Similar, if renewables were priced separately to oil and gas prices, energy bills would come down significantly. And this is DV's underlying point, that it's the way energy is priced that is keeping energy prices higher than they could otherwise be.
