How Quake ruined id Software. There has been a lot of praise of Quake of late, with its 30th anniversary, and it's deserved. Quake is an amazing feat of art, programming, and design. I worked on it, and everything came together almost perfectly from all of us. We ended up with a free-wheeling, frenetic action game with enough of a visible world to grip the imagination. All the team did a brilliant job, fulfilling tasks just right. But at a grim cost. We worked long and hard, and I think it broke us spiritually. 1/3

MCCORMICK: When you go back to the original DNI concept of DNI, what was imagined, it really has grown and ballooned in terms of its size. So I think the idea of streamlining the office of DNI makes sense. It's more than a thousand folks today. I don't think the the originators ever imagined of that. So the idea of of going through it's streamlining and sending those folks back to the agencies from which they came, I think has a lot of merit.

Social media doesn’t run cricket or any professional set up. Iyer is getting a lot of flax for this on Twitter & understandable so cause cricket twitter which is not even 1% of it don’t understand a team’s culture & what it takes to be at the top. While the media is well within rights to ask questions and look for stories & headlines. The fans are entitled to voice thier opinions which is also called “ outside noise “. Captain of a country or any team member is also well within his/ her rights to answer without disrespecting anybody. Don’t see any disrespect here. Also in professional sport if you focus on outside noise or a particular Individual in a team sport then you are losing focus on the main job. You have to stay locked in control the controllables & stay away from distraction.

Looker (1981). AI is replacing supermodels and the process is murder. Michael Crichton wrote and directed this overlooked thriller, which has a great concept - AI commercials and ruthless tech bros - but didn't do great box office. James Coburn, Albert Finnay and Susan Dey star, the soundtrack is great, the cinematography is excellent, but... it doesn't quite gel. Coburn later said a lot of his scenes were cut from the final version, and the unreleased footage does contain a lot more plot detail and drama. It's still a clever idea and well ahead of its time though.

Seedance vs Kling vs Grok. What do you think? Incredible results! I tried Grok's new elements and they're excellent. 🔥 Conclusions and suggestions: Kling has cinematic quality and perfectly respects the aesthetic of the elements and environments I provided. I used the pro version of Seedance and it doesn't display the waterfalls; it modifies the reference images. I feel like it's limited. Grok has done a great job representing the very heavy, giant bull, and its movements are very good. It also respects the aesthetic quite well. Created from Higgsfield prompt in comment:

The Day the Earth Caught Fire (1961). One of the best British sci-fi movies of the '60s, with a sharp script from seasoned screenwriter Wolf Mankowitz and director Val Guest. Nuclear tests knock the Earth off its axis, leading to insane temperature changes. Can another set of nukes set it right? It's tense stuff with excellent dialogue, a slower pace and plenty of shots of Fleet Street in its heyday with a young(ish) Leo McKern as an affably grizzled reporter. Michael Caine also has a small uncredited role as a policeman. The matte work is superb, making London seem eerily desolate as well as baking hot. The film aims for catastrophic realism and it delivers it very well, but unlike On The Beach or Alas, Babylon the nuclear threat takes second place here to the environmental one. The ending in the UK version is ambiguous: does the plan work? The US print has a slightly amended end to suggest it does, but Guest wanted to keep it uncertain. If you have a subscription to BFI Player their remastered version is available online to watch.

#beonnnie IG broadcast update on #MeAndTheeSeriesEP8 🫳🏼💜 🐰: This is the scene that I was afraid (of breaking into laughter) the most, bc I had to face Khun Thee alone. In my head, I was so sure that I was going to accidentally crack up 5555 I wondered if I would be able to do it, bc it's a scene where I really had to bring out my character's background and emotions, but I'm someone who cracks up ridiculously easily 5555 Ever since I read the script, I was nervously anticipating every queue, afraid of having to play this scene, and it turned out I got to play it on the last day of Plub's queue. On the day of the scene, even though the words were cheesy, P'Pond delivered them so well, which helped me a lot. P'X (the director) and the whole team also supported me a lot. I'm so, so, so proud of this scene. It was the most challenging scene in the series.
