As a veteran, Memorial Day is a little more solemn to me. Remember to pay tribute to the brave souls who sacrificed everything, we are forever indebted to them. Another solar complex going in on prime farmland and wildlife habitat, adjacent to a Wildlife Management Area (that seems to be their favorite). As the locals refer to this location: “one of the prettiest views on the whole hill.” You’re looking at dozens of acres of tracker frames, getting ready to support Chinese-manufactured solar panels that will only generate at 12-15% of their annual potential in our climate. The power won’t stay local or lower anyone’s bills in the area. In fact, taxes will go up as the municipality struggles to make up for the property tax this land was previously paying before being destroyed for a solar industrial complex.
