It's crazy how weak this feels compared to the original. Everything that made it so satisfying is gone.

Lots of stuff I like about this remake. The bosses are kind of a weak point imo. There’s a lot less visual clarity when you’re damaging the boss. The explosions don’t pack the same punch. And, this is just personal preference, I wish they’d ham up the voices a bit for them.

The +50 appearing 30 seconds before the actual explosion is the cherry on top, i can at least understand how they'd struggle to recreate the impact of the original but how'd they fuck up the most basic detail like that i guess everyone in the building just died 30 seconds early?

Agreed. The game is amazing, but this moment was ruined. The crash, silence, Hit +50, then the explosion. Granted, the original game's explosions were made as such for one purpose; marketing the Rumble Pak. And it worked. Controller rumble quickly became the industry standard.

You are a moron for complaining about this. The game is absolutely amazing.

One thing I’ve noticed is that when you defeat a boss, there’s no downtime to let things just sit for a few seconds like in the original.

I actually don’t mind most of new cutscenes and voice acting. Like the crew themselves is mostly fine. The new villains though are awful. They’ve completely lost their edge, and all of the weight of defeat when they die is gone. They just make goofy quips.

Mechbeth is like the perfect example of how this remake falls flat both in it's delivery, with the delivery in the og he sounds terrified that he's lost control of his train and is about to crash as he's cut off by the train crashing but in this he's just shocked he can't stop it

Even the timing of the Hit+50 is wrong.

They really could of just used the uncompressed voice lines from the OG Starfox 64. I'm worried what they're gonna do to my pirate bro here.

Not a fan of how dinky explosions have become since like Star Fox Zero

Looks like I can save my money this paycheck

Why did they subdue the sound of the explosions? Like, the music doesn't need to punctuate the explosions; the explosions will do that themselves. I know it's nitpicky, but after all the trash talk from the boss during that mission, a big, loud explosion was the perfect ending.

Yall are so miserable

It’s roughly the same minus the slightly heavier emphasis on failing to stop the train. Though to be honest, the several years of YouTube Poops slightly warped my memory of the line “I can’t stop it!”

Voice actors and voice direction fucked up

soul vs soulless

Jay Green is truly the GOAT of Starfox 64.

Almost all new bosses VA feels like someone record at midnight quietly not to wake up anyone. So lack of emotion that I can find any fan made stuff has far more passionate VA.

@taco_lover7 I dread to think of what the new dub does with the train engineer’s voice

God, the remake looks like total shit. Nothing about it looks satisfying or fun. That one barrier suddenly vanishing because it needs to de-render for the next one is the cherry on top of the lack of care. The original footage is also way more satisfying on actual hardware.

I really wish they would have had a mode with the original voices. I would have bought it.

Bad VA, bad sound, no sick final massive explosion, no DUN DUN DUN DUN for Mission Accomplished. Everything about this game just seems worse than the original.

So the game is flopping yea?

It was even better when I somehow got it glitched so when this scene started the mfer said “STEP ON DA GAS”

I was literally about to turn off the long play I was watching when they were doing the normal difficulty route. I was beyond disappointed.

All the bosses have terrible voice acting besides Andorss. All of the explosions are worse. A lot of the voice acting is hit and miss what's unfortunate is 90% of the misses are iconic lines. No hit feedback for hitting weak points makes it hard to tell for new people especially.

new thing bad :( :( :(

Here come the little hyenas now

I prefer the gameplay of the remake over the OG But man the OG has so much more soul than the remake. It makes me sad for what could’ve been an amazing remake

The overwhelming majority of the new voices are absolutely terrible they have no charm whatsoever. Sucks to cause the new graphics and gameplay look great, but there was so much more to the game than that

No more celebrating the Fourth of July on Macbeth. We just get one boom instead of the whole fireworks display.☹️

Everyone telling you that you are wrong are missing the truth in your words. The pacing, VFX, and SFX of the original are way more impact-oriented. The newer version is visually cleaner and faster, but has a completely different feel to it.

Some of y'all were born with a permanent scowl.

@maximilian_ said the same thing about the delivery of lines, the sound effects, and cinematic elements in the Switch 2 version. It lacks camp and emphasis in general in favor of playing it too straight. Fortunately, while I do think the new version is great, it can’t replace 64.

Shut the fuck up and play the game
