Yesterday I spoke in the Westminster Hall debate, secured by my good friend Richard Burgon MP, on banning second jobs for MPs. Being an MP isn’t a side hustle. It’s a public duty. Our constituents expect and deserve representatives whose only priority is serving their communities, not chasing private interests or boosting their own bank balance. Public office should never be a business opportunity. Our loyalty belongs to our constituents, and our constituents alone. It’s time to ban second jobs for MPs. #BanSecondJobs

SHOCKING!!! Attn, Governor Senator Monday Okpebholo We are aware of reports that the newly elected Executive Chairman of Esan West Local Government Area, Edo State Hon. Blessing Albert Ebhodaghe, has allegedly directed drivers operating in various motor parks across the council to always wear Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s cap, with those who refuse reportedly facing a ban from entering the parks. This is deeply concerning and deserves immediate clarification from both the council chairman and Governor Monday Okpebholo. If the report is accurate, it raises serious questions about the use of public spaces for political purposes. A motor park is a place where citizens earn their livelihoods; it is not a political party office. Drivers should not be compelled to display political allegiance as a condition for accessing a public facility or carrying out their legitimate businesses. The issue is particularly significant following Governor Okpebholo’s recent directive to newly inaugurated local government chairmen to work towards delivering 2.5 million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. There is nothing wrong with political parties mobilising supporters, but government officials must distinguish between party activities and their constitutional responsibility to serve all citizens, regardless of political affiliation. Hon. Ebhodaghe is chairman of the entire Esan West Local Government, Edo State not chairman of a political party. His administration should be focused on improving roads, security, transport infrastructure, sanitation, healthcare, education, employment and the general welfare of residents. Governor Okpebholo should clarify whether he authorised or supports such a directive. If he did not, he should publicly reject it and ensure that no resident is denied access to a public facility because of their choice of clothing or political expression. Public office should never become an instrument for imposing political conformity. The people of Esan West deserve accountable leadership, respect for their rights and government that earns political support through performance not pressure. The Governor and council chairman should address these reports transparently and put the interests of Edo citizens above partisan symbolism. #GetInvolved

Socialist mayors don’t have to openly seize property, they just change the rules. It starts with redefining what counts as “unsafe” or “not up to code,” expanding the city’s authority to step in. Then they double or triple fines until it’s no longer financially sustainable for landlords to keep their buildings. Once owners fall behind, the city steps in “for the good of the tenants” and takes control, transferring the property to a housing trust or public agency. On paper, it’s about safety and maintenance. In reality, it’s a slow motion property grab that moves housing out of private hands without ever passing a single law that says they’re seizing it. (Seizing the means of production). It’s socialism through regulation, and most people don’t realize it’s happening until it’s too late.

Everything I have always said about His Excellency Peter Obi comes down to one thing leadership built on prudence, accountability, and genuine concern for the people. Peter Obi has consistently shown a careful and disciplined approach towards the economy. He understands that governance is not about luxury, waste, or enriching a few individuals while millions suffer. Governance must be done prudently, with every kobo accounted for and directed towards improving the lives of the people. One thing that stands him out is his consistency in advocating for the reduction of the cost of governance. At a time when many public office holders focus on buying unnecessary houses, luxury properties, and expensive lounges in states they do not even govern, Peter Obi continues to preach and practice simplicity, accountability, and responsible management of public resources. Nigeria does not need leaders who see public office as an opportunity for personal enjoyment. Nigeria needs leaders who will invest in education, healthcare, security, production, and human development. Leaders who understand that public funds belong to the people and must be used for the benefit of the people. A working economy is built through discipline, production, transparency, and sacrifice not reckless spending and selfish leadership. This is the consistency Peter Obi has continued to demonstrate over the years. A new Nigeria is possible, and by the grace of God, Nigeria will be OK
