I believe we were created. Most of the evolution doesn't make sense. Some evolution, just not to that extent

I believe God started everything, including creating evolution which took over. Kind of like an automated macro. And He just keeps watch.

All of those "stages", there's similar animals that still exist that look like them. Why didn't they "evolve"?

If you read Genesis and disregard the 7 day timeline written for people who couldn't count past ten to understand, the sequence of events described isn't that far off from what science tells us. Void and without form. Then, the sun ignites: let there be light. Earth forms, mountains pushed up - how did they guess that mountains weren't always there but pushed up by plate tectonics? Then, water. And then, life. Lower forms, leading to higher forms, and finally humans. Genesis is describing evolution. How did people four thousand years ago get that close? What a mystery to ponder.
