It’s hilarious to me how much the torpedo bat discourse died down when a catcher is literally on pace to hit 60 homers using one in 3 quarters of his PAs

because people realised it just is not that deep

That’s totally fair. It was blown way out of proportion, but it seems like *nobody* is mentioning how well BD is doing after switching. Which is no disrespect to him. It’s honestly awesome imo

it was only bad because the yankees were doing it

Yeah it’s all the bat. Which is why everyone else using a torpedo bat has as many homers as him

Cal Raleigh has added nearly .300 points of slugging from the left side since last year idk what point you’re trying to make. It’s not gonna work for everybody but clearly he’s unlocked something and is doing nutty stuff as a result.

Not a yankee so he could use a corked bat if he wanted and no one would care

if you think Cal Raleigh is just a catcher ydkb

Oh yeah he’s also a DH catchers have never DH’d before crazy novel concept on our hands

People enjoy the longball. Torpedo bats help that. It doesn't make them better at getting bat on ball, just rewards when they do more. Pushes the game away from 3-outcome ball a bit. Encourages swinging smarter.

If was a new type of maple, you wouldn’t care. If it was a longer bat, you wouldn’t care. If it was a fatter bat, you wouldn’t care. If it was a skinnier bat, you wouldn’t care. But since it is fat and skinny in places you aren’t used to, now it is a scandal. The bat isn’t illegal and frankly if it makes more sense because of physics then, everyone should use them. We don’t even dream of making shifted wake pitches illegal. Come on man.

Again I ask you to understand this tweet was not in any way directed negatively towards Cal
