Many of the world's religious traditions tell us that the world around us is an illusion created for our benefit. He believes most religions started when somebody peeked outside the simulation and saw what was really there. What if this life is like a video game we're all playing? I sat down with NVIDIA Sam Stanwyck (Sam Stanwyck) at ISC to talk about one of the most misunderstood areas in computing: quantum. We discussed why NVIDIA is not building a quantum computer, but instead the infrastructure around it: GPUs, AI, CUDA-Q, quantum simulation, control systems, error correction, and the path toward hybrid CPU/GPU/QPU supercomputing. The key takeaway: Quantum will likely not arrive as a standalone magic machine. It will arrive as part of a much larger accelerated computing stack, combining classical supercomputers, AI, GPUs, and quantum processors to tackle problems in chemistry, materials science, energy, optimization, and fundamental science. Are We In a Simulation? Well, it does work as if we are. So for all intents and purposes you should adopt this mentality! Life responds to you, primarily your thoughts, beliefs, energy and actions. Whether or not there's a giant computer doesn't matter; simulation can simply be an allegory for how this reality operates. As such, we can work with this simulation to create the reality that we desire, and improve our lives. Becoming conscious is the goal. Then, work to understand WHY we are in this "simulation", and what our aims should be...

UBC professor Dr. Mir Faizal and his team proved that reality operates on "non-algorithmic understanding" that no computer could ever simulate. They used Gödel's incompleteness theorem to show some truths can only be grasped through understanding that doesn't follow logical steps. Computers follow recipes. Reality doesn't. The fundamental laws of physics exist beyond space and time in what physicists call a Platonic realm of pure information that can't be coded. They basically say the universe is too weird to be fake.
