A short film about my World Cup in the United States. It was a celebration of football, of a way of playing that I believe in, and of the people who make this game so fascinating. But it was also a journey through a country I discovered in a completely different way: its cities, its people, its contradictions and its incredible energy. And yes, I had a fantastic time. That doesn’t mean I’ve forgotten the uncomfortable questions around how the World Cup is organised, or the criticism surrounding FIFA and its leadership. Both things can be true: you can love football, enjoy the people and the experience, and still question the way the game is run. This is simply my World Cup story. TV critic and broadcaster Scott Bryan talked about autism representation in ‘Heated Rivalry’ on the BBC Breakfast this morning 💗 “The show depicted neurodivergence, many people picking up one of the characters in the drama is autistic. I think it highlighted the traits that he was experiencing in a really grounded way, but also highlighted all of the other parts of his personality as well. His autism wasn’t the only thing we learnt about him. For myself, I found out I was autistic only a couple of years ago and this was the first depiction of autism on TV that I saw to be really quite relatable and realistic, and I know for a lot of other people they found it to be the same way.”

A person can only recognize the kind of love they’ve experienced. To this day, even 37 years later, the game I associate the most with the Psygnosis logo is Shadow of the Beast. The game itself was fascinating - in the sense that graphics and sound were both perfect 10s, while gameplay was a 3 at best. Maybe I am being a bit harsh, but I think we can all agree that there was a massive gap between how it looked/sounded and how it played. And yet its burned into my memory forever and certainly has its place in gaming history. Psygnosis published around 100 games, but that logo will always give me Shadow of the Beast vibes.

Hard to imagine a world where the incentive isn't $$ You see how fast its moving. AI is here and once it has some legs and arms things really speed up. One of the final pieces is how its all powered. When that final power/peace comes, fighting for energy becomes a moot point. Worldwide. Find something that you love to do, preferably that will benefit others. Something that makes you feel a purpose. Even if its just spreading some love. Cant go wrong with that one.
