The real question is: Why an AI have this authorizations? I mean, you need authorizations to do such a thing, they are called scopes. For example: a role "member" can't do the same things as the role "admin", they have different scopes. Someone forgot to remove it from the production env?

Everyone's calling this a Meta screwup. It's a preview. An AI in the approval path with no human checking it — Meta's support AI accepted a fake selfie and reset the password. "The AI reviewed it" is the same trap landing in code audits right now. Automating the reviewer doesn't remove risk. It hides it.

Here is their response: “your content belongs to someone else”. Or whatever they say every time. Therefore, dear Adam Mosseri, the ceo of instagram, Scammers are in control of instagram algorithms now! They are in control of you and by extension US, as users. This has to stop. Instagram certainly and most definitely has enough resources and must intervene immediately to protect creators and users from fraudsters and criminals! Please maximum repost. It could be you or your family that gets extorted, scammed or abused on this platform next. My lawyers are also in touch with META and I will keep you posted how this situation develops. i highlighted Meta last week and the thesis is starting to get more interesting their AI spend is beginning to show up across the actual business, especially ads, while the consumer side keeps expanding with products like Meta AI the market has spent a lot of time focused on who owns the best model distribution, monetization and the ability to ship AI directly to billions of users matter just as much Meta is one of the names i’m watching closely here
