Today, the Gov's new Immigration System Reforms begin. But let's not forget who got us into this mess: Priti Patel & the Tories. There used to be an annual cap of 20,700 non-EU 'skilled' work visas. But Patel REMOVED this cap in her 'post-Brexit points-based system’, starting Jan 2021. Removing this cap had disastrous consequences. 2023 was a pivotal year- the UK granted almost 200,000 non-EU 'skilled' work visas (10x more than in 2020) in addition to 89,000 non-EU heath & care worker visas. The top 5 non-EU countries granted these visas were India, Nigeria, Philippines, Zimbabwe & Pakistan (hence the huge influx of migrants from developing countries). Net migration in 2023 was 906,000 (with 1,002,000 non-EU arrivals, and 96,000 EU departures). Yes illegal migration is terrible. But the bigger problem is legal migration. Channel 4 News cover the creation and rise of hotels for asylum seekers Your reminder that it was the Conservative government that created this problem by stopping the processing of asylum seeker applications because they thought their Rwanda scheme which only send 4 volunteers to Rwanda was the solution to the UK being outside the EU with Brexit and unable to return asylum seekers back to the first country they entered the EU as we were no long party to the Dublin agreement, which in turn is the reason why so many asylum seekers come to the UK on small boats because they know that outside the EU the mechanism to return them no longer exists I.e. all of this was created by the Conservatives and Labour are now in. the process of trying to fix this, and while they've done some positive things they still have a long way to go, including doing the thing which they repeatedly called for in opposition but still haven't done in government: safe and legal routes

Keir Starmer is celebrating an 84 percent fall in net migration. But it's a hollow victory. Total migration was 813,000. 77 percent (627,000) were from outside Europe. Half of work visas were given to dependents. More than 88,000 were asylum seekers, including illegal migrants. Net migration only fell to 171,000 because 246,000 British citizens left the country, including thousands of young native Brits. ONS estimates show that at least 19 percent of the UK population was born overseas. Gross immigration between 2021 - 2025 was 5.6 million. 1 in 20 residents in Britain arrived in the last five years. First- or second-generation immigrants now make up a quarter of the population. And record numbers were granted citizenship in 2025. We can't keep doing this. The public don't want to. 41 percent of voters told Ipsos that immigration is the biggest issue in Britain. We can't build three new Birminghams to accommodate these people. We shouldn't have to. This must be reversed.

THE FORKS IN THE ROAD In this video from his podcast, Alexander Mercouris provides an excellent historical summary of the choices that the U.S. faced in the lead-up to the Ukraine War that would have averted the current disaster: In 2004, the US could have stayed out of Ukrainian affairs altogether, but instead it chose to support a color revolution. In 2008, the US could have listened to then-ambassador, now-CIA director Bill Burns’ advice not to expand NATO to Ukraine because it would cross the brightest of all redlines for the entire Russian leadership. But instead the US issued the Bucharest declaration that Ukraine would join NATO. In 2013, the US and its European allies could have compromised on the EU accession agreement to address Russian concerns. But instead they maintained that they would not change even a punctuation mark. In 2014, the US could have supported a peaceful transition of power in Ukraine. But instead it backed the Maidan coup against a democratically-elected government. In 2015-2022, the US could have supported peaceful attempts, via the Minsk agreements, to resolve the protests by ethnic Russians that broke out in reaction to the coup. But instead it supported Kiev’s attempts to violently suppress and shell the Donbas. In 2021-2022, the US could have negotiated over the draft Russian agreements which principally sought a written guarantee that Ukraine would not join NATO. But instead it insisted that it would never compromise over that policy. I say to the Government: no more evasions, no more excuses, and no more terminal inexactitude from that Dispatch Box. The House deserves better. The country expects better. This was an appointment that should never have been made. The Government pushed the Peter Mandelson appointment through anyway, and now they are scrambling for excuses. They say the system failed. It did not. They ignored it. The facts were already in the public domain. The Cabinet Secretary advised them to pause and wait for proper clearance. Sensible advice. Responsible advice. They ignored that too. Instead, they rushed it through, put the King in the firing line, secured agrément, and hoped it would hold. It did not. That is not due process, that is recklessness. And today we learned something even more serious: despite not being cleared, he had access to highly sensitive material. That should concern every Member of this House. So the question is simple: why? Why push this through against the evidence, against advice, and against common sense? The Prime Minister owns this. This was his decision, and it has failed.

Frontier Airlines overbooked several flights that day, not an uncommon occurrence on flights, but what they did next was crazy. Instead of asking for volunteers to fly at a later time with compensation, they just began denying people seats and telling them that they were “late” for their flight. (They had been in that line for over an hour and a half.) Now here is where it gets even crazier. They were offering to put those removed from the flight on a later flight, but it would cost them an EXTRA $100 to do so. Would you just pay the $100 or would you demand a refund for your ticket? Obviously the young guy in the video is pissed. Is he in the right or is Frontier?
