As a huge fan of the Virtua Fighter series, I was eagerly waiting for Virtua Fighter 5 to hit the arcades. Unfortunately, Sega didn’t sell the arcade hardware and instead operated it through a rental system, so outside of Japan, the game was nearly impossible to find in arcades. Thankfully, with the huge leap in performance of the PS3 and Xbox 360, Virtua Fighter 5 received the first truly complete console port in the series. I remember having so much fun playing it back then. Sadly, in Korea, the Tekken series was so widely available in arcades that very few people even knew about Virtua Fighter 5. It’s a shame that such a great game slowly faded into obscurity. Eventually, the series seemed to lose its momentum, and I thought we would never see a new Virtua Fighter again. So you can imagine how happy I was when Sega announced that they were working on a new entry. Is there anyone out there who has been waiting for a new Virtua Fighter as long as I have?
