Unless she's a mindreader, how does she know Israel sees attacking hospitals as "defence" – and not, as its leaders keep saying, part of a genocidal plan. That line should be: "What Israel claims as defence, many others have long been saying is indefensible."

Yesterday, Labour’s Defence Readiness Minister claimed the Government would “increase our capabilities”. Today, the Head of the Armed Forces confirmed that he would have to cut back our military capability if Keir Starmer refuses to provide the funding needed to keep the country safe. This is why the Defence Secretary resigned. Britain needs a government prepared to cut welfare and fund defence. Only the Conservatives will do this.
