It’s perfectly reasonable to require every high school senior to pass the same civics test & swear the same oath of allegiance to the U.S. that every immigrant is required to take before becoming a full citizen.

Swearing an oath of allegiance is precisely the opposite of liberty.

For naturalization, it makes sense and already exists. Expanding this requirement to those who are already U.S. citizens would be unconstitutional, Vivek. You’re great on most policies, but I suspect that most Americans disagree with you on this one.

No it's not at all reasonable. Citizenship is our birthright. Our duty as citizens is to obey the laws and to defend and protect the Constitution. Allegiance to the US is taken for granted. This is why current Republicans' despicable allegiance to trumpism is so disgusting.

Being reasonable is not something the US Government is interested in. At least not the current one. If that ever changes it’ll be a miracle.

Did your dad take the test yet?

🏝️🏝️ First that requirement should be given to each and every elected member to the Senate / House / SCOTUS / VP and POTUS Each election btw 🏝️🏝️

Seems Nazi like. The government should pledge allegiance to the people, not the other way around.

California used to have a senior exit exam but stopped giving it because? Too many students FAILED THE TEST! I'm old enough to remember when California was #1 in education. Now it's just ridiculous.

I'm Matt Couch, and I approve this message!

Mandatory national service the year after you turn 18 and finish high school.

The oath that Obafemi Hamzat took to become a U.S. citizen. Sounds exactly like a renunciation of all Nigerian allegiance to me.
