💔💔COBB COUNTY, GA💔💔💔 FROM FB: Today, while volunteering at the shelter and walking my row of dogs, I noticed a different dog in another row sitting quietly in the corner of her kennel… shaking and trying to make herself as small as possible. I looked at her kennel card and learned her name was Hazel and she had just been surrendered yesterday . 😭💔 I decided to go sit with her, hoping I could make her day just a little bit better. Little did I know… she would be the one making mine.🥹 Hazel was terrified and unsure of everyone around her. But little by little, she found the courage to take one step… then another… until she came over, kissed my face, and reminded me just how sweet she truly is. I later learned that Hazel was surrendered because the family cat repeatedly attacked her. 🥺 And through no fault of her own, she lost the only home she knew. Hazel is only 2 years old. She’s dog-friendly, good with kids, housebroken, and crate-trained. She has so much love to give, yet tonight she’s sleeping in a shelter kennel instead of a home. I spent a long time with her today, holding her close and reminding her that she is a good girl… that she is loved, that she is seen, and that someone still cares about her. Before I closed her kennel door, I made Hazel a promise.. I promised her I would share her story with the world. 🙏🏿 this is the stuff of beautiful dreams really🙏🏿 I first met MamLetta almost 30yrs ago officially at a dinner to launch a place they called “Back of the Moon” here in Jozi. All the legends were there, I mean all of them, and little me of course. I was always in rooms I was too small to be in but felt so at home there. I chased her down a passage and sang “Tristeza”, telling her it was my favourite of her songs. She was shocked that I not only knew her music, but that I know that song in particular. She has an astounding discography and her kindness and gentle mentorship have carried me through the 30 sum years I have been in this business. She influenced everyone. If you listen to the opening of Mamani you might hear what you would later hear in the voice of Busi Mhlongo. She is an integral part of the South African voice and technique. #LettaMbulu

Today would have been my mother’s 104th birthday! Happy, happy birthday, Mummy. I think of my mother every day, and I miss her every single day. I still talk to her all the time. I seek out her advice. I know she would be proud. But especially on her birthday, I think of her a lot. She loved her birthday! She would sail her boat on her birthday. She would eat her favorite foods. She would try to beat me in tennis… she was a fierce competitor! When people think and talk of the Kennedy family, they so often single out the men. But they are missing the real story. The story of the strength and the resolve of the women like my mother. She changed the world — no two ways about it! She started the Special Olympics! Today, the Special Olympics provides training and activities to more than 5 million participants in 172 countries. It’s the largest sporting organization for people with intellectual disabilities in the world. I made a film about her several years ago (‘The Kennedy who Changed the World’) that is always worth reviewing! Her life is worth celebrating — today and on all days! #inspireheartsandminds

Our team had to gently lift her up… and even then, her legs were trembling, struggling to hold her weight. This is what years of suffering does. Yesterday, she was too scared to even take a piece of fruit. She didn’t understand kindness… only fear. But today, something changed. She is calmer, more trusting, standing among the other donkeys, slowly accepting that she is finally safe. We cleaned her wounds again, changed her bandages, and are feeding her small meals again and again to help her fragile body recover. But the truth is — animals like Willow need intensive, continuous care, and that comes with a heavy cost. Last night, after sharing her story, we received support… and it gave us hope. this entire sequence is one of the most chilling moments in nikke but also one of my favorites. you can genuinely hear the pain and anger in dorothy's voice, and when rapi said that they could kill doban "together" - she shuts down and gets confused. i don't know if it was because she was shocked that rapi would agree to killing doban, or because rapi was giving her the chance to actually kill him, causing her to freeze up because she couldn't do it. at every moment she's given to kill him, she was strong and didn't do it. i think rapi knew this which is why she even suggested the idea of helping her kill doban.

And before that, did you ever imagine what kind of personality MUVMUV might have? How did your feelings change before and after meeting her? 💚: For me, I felt excited at first. Personally, I really like mascots. I once dreamed of being inside them, and I actually had that experience once and really enjoyed it. (Being inside a mascot,) it felt like I didn’t have to think about anything serious and could just live in the moment. 💚: And when it comes to meeting MUVMUV, before that I never really thought about what she would be like or what kind of person she would grow into. I see her as a child, a child that we (💚💖) should protect at the proper level we can. So, she (🧡) can be herself freely, but if it’s in a way that causes trouble for others, then I may need to gently guide her. 💖: Exactly… I felt excited too when I first met MUVMUV. From a drawing, she became a keychain doll, and then turned into a mascot who can walk and even run. Personally, I find her very cute. And if she wants to do something, she can just do it. I just remind her to greet adults and to bow her head when meeting elders because everyone sees her as our child. Yes, she is just a kid, so we want to raise her to grow up gentle.
