Do Not Trust the Opinions of Those Youth Who Isolate Themselves from the Established Salafī Centres Al-ʿAllāmah Ḥasan ibn ʿAbd al-Wahhāb al-Banná admonishes those who isolate themselves from the Salafī duʿat and elders. [Q]: Likewise Shaykh, when these students return from either Makkah, Riyāḍ or al-Madīnah, they return claiming salafiyyah but they isolate themselves from the established Salafīs (i.e. elders). For example, they isolate themselves from the likes of Abū Khadījah and Abū Ḥakīm, [and] in Canada they isolate themselves from the Salafīs at Masjid al-Furqān (TROID). [A]: Do you mean they speak ill of them? [Q]: Yes. [A]: The people of innovation speak ill about Ahl al-Sunnah. Abū Khadījah is from ʿAhl al-Sunnah, Abū Ḥakīm Bilāl is from Ahl al-Sunnah, and Ḥasan al-Ṣumālī is from Ahl al-Sunnah. They are from the callers of Ahl al-Sunnah — this is something which is well-known. If they err, we will tell them to retract their error, and they will retract. So why do you speak ill of them? Hadi al-Wadi’i said: “Is it better to read a newspaper from the beginning to the end, or memorize a page of the Quran? My brothers, focus, focus on seeking knowledge. Some of our scholars would read his book while walking in the street. They understood the importance of knowledge, and Allah raised them. They understood the importance of the Sunnah, and Allah raised them. I ask Allah to preserve our religion for us, and to bless us to die as Muslims.”

🎙️ Ash-Shaikh al-ʿAllāmah, Sālih al-Fawzān (may Allāh preserve him): Advice to students of knowledge who busy themselves with Takfīr, Tabdīʿ and seeking out the slips of the scholars and the Salafi callers to Allāh, claiming that this is the path of Shaikh al-Fawzān and others from the people of knowledge. A summary of the Shaikh al-Fawzān’s speech: This is a trial, and not permissible: busying oneself with the mistakes of the people, and causing people to flee from the scholars, the students of knowledge, and from the callers to Allāh. This is a fitnah—it is not permissible to act upon that, nor to follow the one who does that. Rather, it is obligatory for there to be mutual advising—the Religion is sincere advice—and cooperation upon righteousness and piety between the Muslims, and to act with knowledge. As for busying oneself with this person and that person, that is backbiting and repelling—and backbiting is among the major sins—and it does not rectify anything; instead, it corrupts and splits. If we see something in a person, we advise him, either by writing to him or by speaking to him. As for sitting and backbiting, that is harām. This leads to the splitting of the Muslims and causes people to flee from seeking knowledge. This behaviour is not permissible at all. They are lying, those who say that this is our way, or the way of others [from the scholars]—indeed, we warn against this in our lectures, our books, and we warn against this path. —Recorded about 12 years ago. “And remind, for verily, the reminding benefits the believers.” (Adh-Dhariyat: 55)

Alhamdulillah, the dawrah ’ilmiyyah held today at masjid tanzil was a great success by the tawfīq of Allah. Students of knowledge gathered in good numbers to sit with Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan, benefitting from clear, well-grounded lessons delivered with the depth. The atmosphere throughout was one of eagerness and attentiveness, and many left expressing how much they had gained in a single sitting. The good news is that this is only the beginning: Ustadh Abdulrahman Hassan has further lessons scheduled in Kenya in the period ahead, and all who are able are warmly encouraged to attend, bring their families, and take their share of this khayr. As the Prophet ﷺ said, whoever treads a path in search of knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise. Do not let the opportunity pass you by.

Imām Al-Awzāʿī said: “A time will come when the rarest thing of that era will be a good friend.” (Al-Hilyah, no. 12995) One of the great blessings of the brotherhood and friendship found within DuSunnah is that these brothers were together in their days of jāhiliyyah, then embraced practising Islam together, travelled in pursuit of knowledge together, and later helped establish and build the masjid together. May Allah preserve them, increase them in goodness and benefit, and protect them from envy, harm, and every evil. Ameen.

Imām Al-Awzāʿī said: “A time will come when the rarest thing of that era will be a good friend.” (Al-Hilyah, no. 12995) One of the great blessings of the brotherhood and friendship found within DuSunnah is that these brothers were together in their days of jāhiliyyah, then embraced practising Islam together, travelled in pursuit of knowledge together, and later helped establish and build the masjid together. May Allah preserve them, increase them in goodness and benefit, and protect them from envy, harm, and every evil. Ameen.
